Art Journal with the Moon June 12-18 2023

Art Journal with the Moon for June 12-18, 2023

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Few Thoughts About The Moon This Week

My creative friends, this week we greet a new moon in Gemini. This new moon is playful, fun, social, sweet, romantic and perfect for a fresh start. As a late bloomer who lives in a highly sensitive body, it’s nice to greet a moon that reminds me it’s never too late to chase my dreams. It doesn’t matter if others seem to have found their success earlier. The new moon whispers to me (and maybe you too) that my journey has its own rhythm, and my dreams can still bloom beautifully. I just need to trust my path and honor my pace – even when it’s much slower than I want it to be.

This cosmic blank canvas that is the Gemini new moon offers an opportunity to embark on a new chapter of our lives. It’s a gentle reminder that we too can embrace the concept of renewal and transformation and sometimes the best place to invite a fresh start is in the stories we tell ourselves. As I learned from Harold R. Johnson in his book, “The Power of Story”, “We become the stories we are told and the stories we tell ourselves.”

As a highly sensitive person who is moving towards her dreams later in life, I’m guilty of telling stories about myself to myself that aren’t helpful. Stories that say I’m too sensitive, or it’s too late, or I don’t have enough time. The truth is, I can learn to manage my sensitivities in a way that increases my capacity. I can go at my own pace and for the love of all that is good and holy, I can TRUST MY PACE! Yes, my limitations are frustrating and sometimes they want me to scream or cry but there are always creative ways to reach my goals.

It’s true, people who aren’t as sensitive as I am don’t have to work so hard or find alternative paths to reach the same destination and it isn’t fair but it is what it is. I can resist and fight and scream and wail for as long as I want but the moment I stop fighting and accept my experience is the moment clever solutions come to me. That’s why I’m always learning how to be flexible and adapt. I treat myself with kindness and take care of my many needs while at the same time shoot for the stars – because I refuse to give up!

And I refuse to let you give up! Just because we have to manage mysterious chronic illnesses or juggle all the environmental and internal factors just so we can extend our energy and active functional time or deal with the double-edged sword that comes with being highly sensitive, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. It might take longer. It might require a lot more commitment, structure and support but we deserve to create and serve the way our souls long to create and serve.

So the new stories I can tell myself are:

I trust my path

I trust my pace

There is always a creative solution to the challenge I’m facing

My dreams deserve my faith

So my friend, what is the story you are telling yourself about yourself?

Who do you believe you are?

What are the stories you are telling yourself about your past?

What are the stories you are telling yourself about the future?

What are the stories you are telling yourself about your limitations?

What are the stories you are telling yourself about your sensitivities?

What are the stories you are telling yourself about your soul’s calling?

And don’t’ forget, the new moon is focusing this fresh start energy in a specific area of your life. The areas of your life that will be affected most by this new moon energy can be found by knowing your rising sign.

If you want to understand the areas of your life this energy will affect you most, scroll down to the images that show you the moon this week according to your rising sign. Find the image with your rising sign in the title then look at the zodiac wheel and find the pie shaped part of the chart that is titled “Gemini”. Next, look at the number below the word “Gemini”. That number represents the astrological house that Gemini takes care of on your birth chart. What house number do you see?

Finally, scroll down some more to see the chart of the astrological houses and locate the house number and read the words written in that part of the pie chart. Those words describe the life topics or areas of your life that are receiving this fresh start energy during the new moon and the two weeks following the new moon.

To flow with this lunar energy and the areas of your life it is affecting you most, focus your new moon intentions on one of those life topics. If you are on my email list, you will receive a deeper exploration of this in the next Creative Moon Guide. I take you step-by-step through the process of creating intentions for this particular new moon (and the full moon that follows soon afterward). I will be delivering them to inboxes on the new moon so keep on eye out for it.

In the meantime, remember it’s never too late to bloom and create a life that aligns with your true purpose and passion. I’m here cheering you on every step of the way. Let’s embrace the magic of this Gemini new moon and embark on this creative journey together.

The Moon This Week According to Your Rising Sign

The Astrological Houses and The Areas of Your Life They Represent

Monday

The moon is in a helpful relationship with Mars today. To me, this means the moon is drawing down energy to help us set boundaries, stand up for ourselves and feel motivated and ready to take action.

This energy can help you express your emotions instead of letting them build up. It can also influence the spiritual properties of the moon and her relationship with our intuition so it might be a good day to connect with your spirit guides and angels or trust any spiritual adventure your soul embarks on today.

I want you to picture what it looks and feels like when you trust your intuition and your emotions. What does it feel like in your body when you accept how you feel?

What does it look like in your life when you trust your gut?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents having the courage to stand up for your needs.

Tuesday

The moon is in the fixed earth sign of Taurus today. Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus so the moon is carrying a little bit of that planet’s energy today as well.

Taurus energy is stable and secure. It brings an air of grace, calm, tolerance, tenacity, comfort, pleasure, grounding, safety and security. Depending on the way it affects you or the area of your life it influences the most, it may also bring inactivity or stubbornness.

Allow the stable and secure energy of Taurus to sit in your body for a moment.

Think of a place in nature that makes you feel safe.

Where, in nature, do you feel emotionally or spiritually held. Maybe it’s by a river or in the forest.

Your nervous system deeply benefits from dosing your field with feelings of safety. Taking care of your body includes caring for your nervous system and allowing it to remember what feeling calm and grounded is like. When you are able to achieve that feeling of safety its like medicine to your nervous system – a warm liquid medicine that flows through your nervous system and speaks to the energy you hold there and reminds your entire system you can let go and relax because in this moment you are safe. Your brain can take a break. It doesn’t need to stay alert. It can put down the guards.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents a place in nature that makes you feel safe.

Wednesday

Today the moon is in the balsamic phase. She is retreating and preparing to hide away in the darkness of the new moon.

This is a time to move inward; to grow still and quiet and change the direction of your looking and to look within and trust your own wisdom and truth. Communing with Spirit and your deepest, truest self is helpful during this phase.

I use this phase to make time to communicate with the angels and my highest or core self. I try to tune into the wisdom and support I carry within me. The veil between Spirit and my conscious mind is thinner at this time of the moon cycle so it eases communication and intuition. It’s also when I’m focusing on my paying attention to Spirit Signs, making notes of my sleeping dreams and communicating with my ancestors or loved ones on the other side of the veil.

It is also a good time to address the shadow aspects of my personality and to get curious about what I have buried in my subconscious. Sometimes, when life is busy, we don’t have time to process the emotions and triggers that arise in our everyday life and in our relationships. This phase of the Moon is a good time to deal with whatever you didn’t have time to deal with earlier on in the moon cycle. Taking this time to make friends with my shadow before a new moon cycle begins helps me to be clearer and less influenced by my wounded parts as I make my New Moon intentions.

You can’t always see what needs to be tended to.

Ask your subconscious mind to show you what you most need to treat today.

Is it something from your past?

Is there a belief or a memory that has been holding you back?

In your art journal, create an image that represents how you feel about the dark moon.

Thursday

The moon moves into the sign of Gemini today. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well. This is also the sign the new moon will be in later this weekend.

Gemini energy is fun, playful, light, adaptable, flexible and brings swiftness and movement. It sometimes can bring energy that feels frantic or unstable as well as scattered, inconsistent, unreliable or unfocused but it is also dynamic, versatile, communicative, multifaceted, friendly and curious with the capacity to change and be interested in many different things which means it sees the good in people and the possibilities in experiences.

Try to think of something in your life you want to move more swiftly. Perhaps it’s a challenging experience that you would like to process or move through more quickly. Perhaps it’s a dream you’d like to draw more closely to you.

With ease and grace, what is one thing in your life you hope shifts or changes quickly and easily?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents a dream you’d like to draw more closely to you.

Friday

The moon is in an intense relationship with Mercury today.

I describe it as intense because the moon and Mercury are very close to each other today and that causes their energies to blend and amplify each other. The sun, moon and Mercury are all in the sign of Gemini now.

What you think and how you feel can come into agreement and help you communicate how you feel in a way that is clear, kind and well-received. It’s the kind of day where taking out your art journal and letting your feelings pour out onto the page can bring beautiful results.

The moon and Mercury are working together to bring affectionate, playful, friendly and romantic energy. Use it to help you connect more deeply with the people you love. It’s also great energy to be curious, market or promote yourself, try new things and enjoy technology.

In your art journal, pour whatever you are feeling today onto the page.

Have fun with your art journal and the moon this week.

with love,
