Art Journal with the Moon May 29 - June 4 2023

Art Journal with the Moon for May 29-June 4, 2023

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Few Thoughts About The Moon This Week

We greet and new month and a full moon in Sagittarius this week and I am loving the energy of both.

I created a group this spring for a program I called “Grow More Good” and that program is feeling so aligned with the energy of June. I love when things align. It feels like a great month to expand and move forward. It’s a month where it’s not so much about diving deep to tend to your shadows or do your emotional work but instead a month for looking ahead and dreaming big and taking action to move forward in the areas of your life you most want to build momentum.

It’s also great for celebrating and having fun. The sun moves into Gemini after all so we’ll have a new moon in that fun-loving sign plus the full moon in Sagittarius is expansive and adventurous. Typically, when a full moon comes around, I consider it a great time for a few different activities. I either want to use that big bright energy to illuminate things I need to see so I do some divination work or I use it to magnify my new moon intentions because the moon has reached its full potential and I like to spend time imagining what it’s like for me to shine bright in this world and reach my full potential too. I will also use full moon energy to celebrate and have fun because there are many full moons that carry that playful, energized vibe as well. And sometimes, when I know I won’t have time to journal with the waning moon phases or with the balsamic moon or the dark moon, I’ll use the full moon to release, let go or forgive.

This week, the full moon in Sagittarius happens on a Saturday night in the mountain time zone. It’s a lively, energizing moon so you might want to be playful and have fun in your art journal. Sagittarius likes to try new things. Do something new or different with your art journal. Try an art technique you’ve been longing to explore but haven’t taken the time to do yet or just set out your favorite art supplies and play with color and line in a way you haven’t before. It doesn’t have to look good. It’s more about having fun and trying something new.

This full moon is ruled by Jupiter which can sometimes cause you to push past your limitations. This isn’t always a bad thing. Growing requires you to stretch past your old patterns and ways of being. You can harness this energy by reflecting on where in your life you want to stretch and grow. Where would getting out of your comfort zone help you achieve your goals or bring you closer to manifesting the kinds of changes you want to create in your life?

The people I work with are in many ways like me. We have spirits that want to serve and create but we are highly sensitive with the limitations that come with that. Some of us are more sensitive than others but either way, taking time to plan and care for your sensitive needs is a crucial step to stretching and growing when you’re highly sensitive. I’ve learned I can grow and move my life in the direction I want it to go and I can achieve things that seemed impossible in the past but only when I honor my sensitive nature and the limitations that come with it.

The full moon in Sagittarius invites you to dream big, try new things and stretch past your comfort zone so you can achieve the things you want to but wisdom says, “Be kind to your sensitive nature.”

I have big dreams. I also have a highly sensitive system. My mast cells are highly sensitive to intense emotions. My nervous system is sensitive to anxiety and stress. I’m using the energy of this full moon to dream big AND consider how I can loving care for my sensitive needs while taking the steps I want to take to make my dreams come true. Practically what this looks like is I want to create a structure to show up more in social media this month. This is hard for me. I feel flooded with other people’s energy when I show up on social media. It depletes my energy if I’m not careful. I’m sensitive to the collective energy and showing up more on social media plugs me into that collective energy.
Instead of allowing my sensitivities to prevent me from reaching my goal, I want to use this full moon to get clear on what showing up on social media while tending to my body and energy field means to me. There are a lot of ways to manage this but I want to get clear on what will work best for ME.

I also have a goal to find an agent or a publisher for the book I’m working on and this full moon is in the PERFECT placement on my astrological birth chart for me to vision this goal coming true. During this full moon, I want to create a page in my art journal that reflects my intentions for the kind of relationship I will have with my future agent or publisher.

At the new moon, I sent the link to download the free Creative Moon Guide for the Taurus/Sagittarius Lunar Cycle. Did you download it yet? It’s not too late. Go now and download it and read or fill out the pages about the full moon to help you figure out how you want to harness this week’s lunar energy.

This is how we do it my friends, one baby step at a time or I guess in our creative case, one art journal page at a time!

The moon moves into the sign of Libra later in the day. Libra is ruled by Venus so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy in the evening as well.

Libra is an air sign. It is fluid and dynamic. It brings energy that is soft, beautiful and artistic. It likes to help you be sociable and enjoy friendships, gatherings and groups. It also likes to keep things balanced and looks for equality in relationships. It brings an energy of acceptance and understanding but it can also be too outwardly focused or, in other words, have you focusing on other people’s needs at the expense of honoring your own feelings and needs.

Let’s magnetize the helpful energy Libra brings.

Think about what treating yourself with gentleness looks. Does it mean going easy on yourself when you make a mistake? Does it mean encouraging yourself to be draw or paint even when what you draw or paint doesn’t look the way you want it to? Does it mean finding the beauty in who you are – especially the challenging and messy parts of who you are?

Where can you be gentle with yourself today?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents treating yourself with gentleness.

The moon is in a happy relationship with the sun today.

The moon often represents the physical body in astrology and the sun represents your spirit, vitality and life force energy. The moon being in a happy relationship with the sun brings vitality to your body. It also means feeling confident and free to be yourself or in other words, to break down the walls of protection and allow your spirit to shine in this world. It’s a day with a little more flow and ease than usual.

Notice where the energy flows in your life today and move with it. Don’t fight against currents today. Go with the flow and look for opportunities that expand you in some way.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents swimming with Divine current.

The moon moves into the sign of Scorpio later today.

Scorpio is ruled by Mars so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well.

Scorpio is a fixed water sign. It brings energy of containment, introversion and defensiveness. Scorpio energy isn’t the best for showing our true feelings or being vulnerable since it prefers to hide and protect but it is helpful for finding safety, being cautious, reserved and helping you to heal and transform your secret or repressed emotions. In fact, emotions are of great importance to Scorpio energy so don’t be surprised if you feel extra sensitive or more easily triggered when the moon is in this sign.

Scorpio energy also helps you to dive deep into your emotional and spiritual realms which is a necessary quality for healing and transformation.

In your art journal, create an image that represents diving into your emotional depths and finding spiritual treasures.

The moon is in the gibbous phase.

This moon phase is when the moon seems almost full. In the creation process, it’s a great time to clear any trapped emotions or energy so that all parts of you, even the hidden wounded subconscious parts, are on board with your goals or your new moon intentions. Some of those blocks include ancestral memories stored in your body, past life memories or energy and emotions you unconsciously absorbed from other people. You are most likely carrying subconscious beliefs or stories that no longer serve you so it is helpful to spend time in your art journal tending to those.

Themes you can explore in your art journal for the gibbous moon include, clearing ancestral memories that are no longer helpful, your family tree, past life memories, co-dependency, the heart chakra and daily habits and routines.

In my art rituals, this is the time when I’m thinking about whether or not my everyday life supports my New Moon intentions.

What about your everyday life can be shifted or changed to better support the direction you want to move forward in?

In your art journal, create an image that celebrates a helpful routine.

The moon is in a trine, or in other words, a harmonious relationship with the beautiful planet Venus today.

Venus is associated with fertility and growth and represents beauty, grace, softness and gentleness. It brings love, friendship, harmony, passion, sensuality, pleasure and is concerned with our relationships and our relationship with pleasure and joy.

The moon and Venus both have receptive qualities.

In the spiritual realm, Venus and the moon work well with intuitive natures to encourage you to live in flow. They provide you with the energy that helps you open, surrender and trust.

In the physical realm, the moon represents the body so bringing that gentle energy of Venus to your body by focusing on doing things that make you feel happy, nurtured and cared for today is helpful.

In the emotional realm, allow the full spectrum of your emotions the respect they deserve today and try to express how you feel in ways that bring harmony and gentleness to your relationships.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents feeling open and trusting.

Have fun with your art journal and the moon this week.

with love,
