Art Journal with the Moon: Themes and Prompts for December 9-15, 2024
In this post, I share a summary of the moon for the week of December 9-15, 2024 as it moves through the zodiac and interacts with the planets. For everyone in general then specifically for highly sensitive entrepreneurs, I also share my thoughts on the Gemini full moon and how to work with its magic in your art journal.
The Moon This Week
The upcoming full moon in Gemini is a powerful time for illumination and insight. Full moons bring the energy of completion, endings, and seeing what you couldn’t see before. They amplify emotions, situations, and energy, making things feel heightened or intensified. In Gemini, the full moon shines a spotlight on communication, social connections, and the exchange of ideas. This is a wonderful moon for gatherings, conversations, and sharing your thoughts with others. If you’ve been meaning to reconnect with friends or host a creative party, this is a great full moon for that.
Gemini is an air sign ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, thought, and intellect. During this full moon, you may notice an explosion of ideas, inspiration, and mental energy. But with Jupiter also in Gemini, all this already heightened energy is expanded even further. This can lead to incredible revelations, insights, and mental breakthroughs, giving you a fresh perspective or new solutions to old problems. However, it can also feel overwhelming or chaotic. Too much inspiration and too many ideas swirling around can leave you feeling unsettled or scattered and it can also heighten anxiety and overthinking – which, let’s face it, a lot of highly sensitive people with a history of trauma already struggle with. Have your somatic or earthy, grounding practices handy.
To add to this mix, the moon is carrying some of Neptune’s energy as well. Neptune brings a spiritual and compassionate focus, inviting you to connect with unconditional love, oneness, and peace. At the same time, Neptune can also create feelings of confusion, brain fog, or a sense of illusion. You might find it difficult to sort through the flood of information you’re absorbing from the world around you or downloading from the divine. This could leave parts of you unsure or even exhausted by trying to process it all.
The key during this full moon is to drop into your heart.
When the mental energy feels overwhelming or chaotic, your heart is where you’ll find clarity and peace. It’s the space where you can discern what is true for you, what aligns with your soul, and what doesn’t. Let your heart guide you as you sort through all the thoughts, beliefs, and ideas swirling around. Reflect on what feels authentic, what serves your growth, and what you’re ready to release.
In your art journal, consider creating a page to help you tune into your heart. Use symbols, colors, or words that represent what is true for you and what feels aligned. You might also include elements that symbolize release—what beliefs or ideas do you want to let go of under this full moon? By taking this time to listen to your heart and honor its wisdom, you’ll find clarity and calm within the beautiful, expansive energy of the Gemini full moon.
Especially for Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs
How to work with the Gemini Full Moon to Grow and Expand Your Business
In ancient astrology, Mercury, the ruler of this full moon, is associated with commerce, the marketplace, and all forms of communication, which obviously ties directly to us as entrepreneurs. However, this full moon arrives on the same day that Mercury stations direct, completing its retrograde period but still in a kind of holding pattern. This can lead to a temporary slowing down or delay in the flow of energy, particularly in areas like marketing, promotion, and communication with your clients or customers.
This makes it a good time to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. Instead of pushing forward, this full moon encourages you to take a step back, drop into your heart and reassess.
Are your marketing strategies, social media messaging, or promotional efforts in alignment with your soul’s dreams for your business?
Are you communicating what your heart and soul actually want to say?
This is a chance to refine how you’re showing up so that when Mercury picks up speed again, you’re ready to move forward in your messaging and marketing with clarity.
How You Can Support Your Clients
For your clients and customers, this may be a time when they feel a bit scattered or overwhelmed with information, especially with the full moon in Gemini amplifying mental energy. Keep this in mind as you communicate with your audience. Simplify your messages, focus on clarity, and consider how you can provide support or resources that help them feel grounded or drop into their heart space during this busy mental energy. You might also want to gather or socialize with them in some way or ask for their feedback or get their insights on something. The information you receive back from them will most likely help you illuminate what you can’t yet see for yourself when it comes to your business.
How You Can Art Journal with the Full Moon to Practice Magic for Your Business
If you would like to art journal with the full moon to grow and expand your business, you can create a page that symbolizes the message(s) you carry in your heart for your audience.
When you drop into your heart and connect with the deep love and passion you have for your audience, ask yourself:
What message do I truly want to amplify for them?
What do I feel called to say, share, or express that will light their way or make them feel seen and supported?
This is the energy of alignment and connection, where the light of the full moon shines on your purpose and the unique magic you bring to the world.
The Gemini full moon, with its focus on communication and sharing ideas, is the perfect time to clarify and magnify the message you most want to send out to your audience. When you drop into your heart, you connect with the purest part of yourself—the part that knows why you’re here and why you do what you do. It’s the part of you that understands the challenges your audience faces and feels that deep pull to offer them wisdom, guidance, or inspiration. From this heart-centered place, you can sense the message that will resonate most deeply with your audience, the one they’re ready to hear right now.
To discover this message, take a moment to close your eyes and breathe deeply. Place your hands over your heart and let yourself feel your connection to your audience. Imagine their faces, their struggles, and their dreams.
What do you want them to know?
Maybe it’s a message of hope, reminding them they’re not alone. Maybe it’s a message of empowerment, encouraging them to trust their gifts. Or perhaps it’s a message of love, letting them know they are deeply valued just as they are.
This full moon amplifies communication, so it’s a powerful time to not only discover your message but to let it shine brightly. Imagine this message as a beam of moonlight, radiating outward to touch the hearts of those you serve.
What would it look like for this message to take root in your work over the next year?
Perhaps it’s reflected in the content you share, the products you create, the services you offer, or the way you show up in your community. Think of practical ways this message can become a guiding star for your business—whether that’s creating a signature offering that embodies your message, writing a heartfelt post or letter to your audience, or simply speaking more boldly and authentically in your marketing.
In your art journal, create a page that represents this heart-centered message. Use words, colors, and symbols that reflect the love and passion you feel for supporting your audience. Maybe you draw an image of the moon sending light across the world, symbolizing how your message touches lives. As you create, set the intention that this full moon will amplify your voice and help you align with your audience in an even deeper, more meaningful way.
Leave your art journal open to this page under the full moonlight, and trust that its energy will help your message reach those who need it most.

Monday
The week kicks off with the moon moving into the sign of Aries on Monday which is good energy for leadership, new beginnings and making things happen. When the moon is in Aries, you’re being encouraged to take the lead in your own life, to make bold decisions, and to move forward with confidence. But before rushing into action, it’s important to pause and get crystal clear on what you really want to focus your energy on. Aries energy is powerful, but to harness it well, you need a clear direction.
Take some time now to reflect on what you feel ready to initiate or take action on in your life. Ask yourself: What is something I’ve been holding back on that I’m now ready to move forward with? What bold steps do I feel called to take? What area of my life needs more leadership and decisive action?
To work with this energy in your art journal, begin by creating a page that reflects what you want to focus on as you move toward the full moon in Gemini.
For self-reflection prompts, try writing in your art journal:
- “Where in my life do I need to take bold action?”
- “What steps can I take to become the leader of my own life?”
- “What am I ready to initiate that aligns with my authentic self?”
- “What fears or doubts do I need to release so I can move forward with confidence?”
This is a nice moon moment to step up, take action, and lead with intention.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, the growing moon is in the sign of Aries and it’s having a happy relationship with Jupiter. This brings a powerful and uplifting energy that’s all about taking bold steps forward with confidence and optimism. Aries, ruled by Mars, is a fire sign that encourages action, courage, and the willingness to take the lead in your life. When this fiery moon connects with Jupiter, the planet of growth, expansion, and wisdom, the energy becomes even more dynamic. It’s a time when you might feel a boost of enthusiasm and a sense of possibility, as if the universe is cheering you on to embrace your dreams and take inspired action.
Emotionally, this lunar energy invites you to trust yourself, to believe in your abilities, and to take a chance on your passions. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin—you just need the courage to take the first step. Jupiter adds a spiritual layer of meaning to your actions, encouraging you to align your efforts with your higher purpose and the bigger picture of what you’re trying to create in your life.
In your art journal, you can work with this energy by creating a page that symbolizes your bold intentions and the expansive possibilities you’re ready to embrace. Start by asking yourself: What am I ready to take action on? What is calling me to grow and expand? How can I align my next steps with my higher purpose?
Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Taurus moon brings grounding and comfort. Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, so the moon is drawing down a little of that planet’s magic as well. Taurus, an earth sign, is known for its connection to the physical senses, stability, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. The properties of the moon in Taurus are also about nurturing a sense of peace, security, and well-being in our inner lives. It encourages us to find harmony in simplicity, urging us to connect with the earth and the rhythm of nature as sources of healing and rejuvenation.
For highly sensitive people who carry creative dreams, the Taurus moon offers a reminder to slow down, allowing you to breathe more deeply and connect with the steady beat of your own heart. The moon in Taurus supports you by grounding your dreams in reality, encouraging patience and persistence. The energy of Taurus reminds you that great creations take time to manifest and that the journey is as important as the destination.
High sensitivity often comes with its own set of challenges, such as feeling overwhelmed by the world’s noise or battling self-doubt. The moon in Taurus helps to steady these fluctuations, offering a solid foundation from which to approach your creative work. It’s an invitation to indulge in self-care, to nurture your body and spirit, and to seek out environments that replenish your energy so that you can return to work on your creative dreams feeling refreshed, inspired and positive.
While the moon is in the sign of Taurus, you might find it especially beneficial to connect with nature in your art journal, perhaps by contemplating and drawing the seeds for the flower or vegetable gardens you plan to plant later in spring, painting your favorite forest, or simply sitting outside and letting the earth’s energy soothe your spirit as you doodle.
In essence, the moon’s passage through Taurus is a gentle reminder that true strength lies in steadiness and that nurturing your inner world is as crucial as pursuing your dreams and goals.
Thursday
With the gibbous moon in the sign of Taurus, Thursday offers some stable and secure energy. Taurus brings an air of grace, calm, tolerance, tenacity, comfort, pleasure, grounding, safety and security. Depending on the way it affects you or the area of your life it influences the most, it may also bring laziness, inactivity or stubbornness.
Allow the stable and secure energy of Taurus to sit in your body for a moment.
Think of someone or something that makes you feel safe.
It could be someone you know or even a place in nature that makes you feel held. Maybe its the feeling of being wrapped in the arms of someone you love.
Your nervous system deeply benefits from dosing your field with feelings of safety. Taking care of your body includes caring for your nervous system and allowing it to remember what feeling calm and grounded is like. When you are able to achieve that feeling of safety its like medicine to your nervous system – a warm liquid medicine that flows through your nervous system and speaks to the energy you hold there and reminds your entire system you can let go and relax because in this moment you are safe. Your brain can take a break. It doesn’t need to stay alert. It can put down the guards.
Friday
On Friday, the gibbous moon moves into the sign of Gemini. Gemini is known for its adaptability, quick thinking, and communication skills. The moon, representing our emotions and inner world, takes on these qualities, encouraging flexibility and openness to change.
The air element in Gemini brings a transformative energy that can usher in periods of change and growth in your life. Air represents movement, intellect, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. When the moon is in Gemini, it calls you to be more flexible in your approach to life, helping you navigate changes and transformations with ease.
This energy can encourage you to explore different perspectives and to remain open-minded, especially during times of inner transformation or when your external world is in flux. It invites you to navigate transitions with grace by embracing new ideas, adapting your plans as needed, and being willing to go with the flow.
Navigating these changes with self-care and compassion means recognizing that transformation can sometimes be uncomfortable or challenging. The moon in Gemini suggests finding solace in activities that soothe your mind, like journaling, reading, or having heartfelt conversations with loved ones. Be gentle with yourself during times of transition, allowing space for your feelings and acknowledging the importance of rest.
Being in tune with the Gemini moon energy encourages you to embrace change with an open heart, trusting that each transformation brings you closer to your true path.
Saturday
On Saturday, the moon is in the sign of Gemini. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well.
Gemini energy is adaptable, flexible and brings swiftness and movement. It sometimes can bring energy that feels frantic or unstable as well as scattered, inconsistent, unreliable or unfocused but it is also dynamic, versatile, communicative, multifaceted, friendly and curious with the capacity to change and be interested in many different things which means it sees the good in people and the possibilities in experiences.
Try to think of something in your life you want to move more swiftly. Perhaps it’s a challenging experience that you would like to process or move through more quickly. Perhaps it’s a dream you’d like to draw more closely to you.
With ease and grace, what is one thing in your life you hope shifts or changes quickly and easily?
