Working with the Magic of the Full Moon in Your Art Journal

The full moon in Capricorn arrives on July 10, and a few hours before it reaches its peak, it receives a nourishing, supportive energy from Mars in Virgo.

That might not seem like a big deal, but it think it matters. The moon is like a sponge. It soaks up the emotional tone of what’s happening around it before it shines at its fullest. Mars in Virgo brings a focused, steady, and humble kind of earthy fire energy. It’s not flashy. It doesn’t want the spotlight. It just wants to help you move forward in a way that’s clear and organized.

So this full moon carries some of that helpful, grounded energy while it shines down to help you and your work. It’s quietly energizing. It helps you pay attention to the small things that lead to big things and the small details that lead to big results. It supports the idea that you can do hard things but not all at once. One thoughtful step at a time.

Because this full moon is in Capricorn, it’s already wired for clarity, structure, and long-term thinking. Capricorn doesn’t set intentions that sound pretty but mean nothing. It wants real things. Measurable things. Intentions that actually go somewhere and mean something and help you build the kind of life and business you can be proud of. That doesn’t mean your intention has to be huge. It just means it needs to be rooted in reality. Something you’ve thought through. Something you believe in.

On the surface, Capricorn can look rigid or overly focused on achievement, but when you slow down and really feel into it, Capricorn is one of the most soulful, sacred signs in the zodiac. It carries the weight of time in its bones. It understands what it means to carry responsibility, to build something that lasts, and to make sacrifices now so something beautiful and meaningful can grow over time.

An Emotionally Mature Full Moon

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of maturity, structure, and deep inner wisdom. Saturn teaches us that real growth isn’t instant. Real growth is earned through devotion, consistency, and resilience. Capricorn knows how to delay gratification not because it’s cold or joyless, but because it sees the bigger picture. It’s motivated by a desire to create something that matters. It values creating something that will still be standing long after the fleeting highs of temporary success have faded.

The magic of Capricorn isn’t flashy. It’s not loud. It doesn’t need applause. Its magic is quiet and steady. It lives in the invisible progress no one else sees. It lives in boundaries that protect your energy, in long-term plans that honor your deeper values, and in the integrity it takes to follow through even when no one’s watching.

It’s the magic of building a life you can feel proud of. The kind of life your inner child can feel safe in and your future self can thrive in.

What Would My Wise Self Do?

Capricorn’s energy also invites you to become your own inner elder. It asks: What would the wise, grounded version of you do? Not the fearful part. Not the perfectionist. But the part of you that’s already been through a lot, learned from it, and is now making choices from a place of grounded self-respect. That’s the Capricorn within you.

For entrepreneurs and especially sensitive, intuitive, or creative ones, Capricorn is the part of your chart that helps you stay anchored when emotions get big or self-doubt creeps in. It reminds you that your gifts are worth the effort. That structure isn’t punishment, it’s devotion. And that success isn’t just about outward results. It’s about staying connected to your long-term vision and making choices every day that move you in that direction.

So when you’re working with Capricorn energy, especially under a full moon, it’s a powerful time to look at what you’re truly committed to. What you’re willing to show up for again and again. What do you want to build that will still be standing a year, five years, ten years from now? It’s also a time to honor the inner foundation including the healing, the emotional work, the boundaries and the planning that’s supporting the business you’re creating.

Capricorn doesn’t promise fast results. But it promises real ones. And it invites you to believe that your business, your creative vision and your sacred work are all worth building slowly and intentionally, brick by brick, with magic in your hands and meaning in your heart.

Moving Into Leadership and New Beginnings

The ruler of this full moon is Saturn, and Saturn is in Aries right now. That’s important, too. Saturn in Aries brings fire and courage to the table. It pushes you to take responsibility for leading yourself. It’s not interested in perfection. It’s interested in you stepping up and especially in the places where you’ve hesitated before.

Saturn is the planet that asks you to grow up and not in a shameful, heavy way, but in a way that calls your soul forward into deeper leadership, integrity, and self-responsibility. And Aries is the sign of beginnings, courage, identity, and self-assertion. When these two energies meet, you’re invited to take yourself seriously. Can you do that not in a harsh or rigid way, but with clarity? Can you do that in a way that shows you really know who you are?

In your business, Saturn in Aries is like a sacred contract between you and your future self. It says: If you’re willing to claim your place, your path and your way of doing things, even if it’s different from how others do it, I’ll help you build something real.

Something bold. Something that honors who you truly

Saturn in Aries asks:

Are you ready to stop waiting for permission?

Are you willing to stop hiding, stop doubting, and start showing up for your dreams like they matter?

Saturn doesn’t rush. It moves with purpose. And in Aries, that purpose is becoming the leader of your own life. It’s about stepping into the kind of self-trust that says, “I might not have it all figured out yet, but I believe in what I’m building, and I’m willing to be seen building it.”

There’s something raw and brave about Saturn in Aries. It wants you to face the parts of yourself that are scared to take up space or speak your truth or ask for what you want and to grow strong enough to do those things anyway. Not from ego, but from alignment. From the deep knowing that the world needs what you have to offer.

Saturn in Aries might test you. It might bring up old wounds around rejection, failure, or not being good enough. But those aren’t punishments. They’re doorways. Saturn shows you what you still believe about yourself that’s holding you back and then gives you the tools to rewrite that story.

So if you’ve been feeling a nudge to be bolder in your business, to finally launch that offer, raise your prices, show your face online, speak more clearly about what you do or become the leader your community needs you to be, this is the energy behind it. Saturn in Aries is saying: You don’t have to be fearless. You just have to be committed.

And here’s the deeper spiritual truth: this isn’t just about business. It’s about identity. It’s about returning to who you were before the world told you who to be. It’s about claiming your right to shape your life and your work in a way that feels honest and alive. It’s about remembering that your presence is the offering and your business is just one sacred way of sharing it.

Under this sky, you’re not here to be small. You’re here to become the kind of entrepreneur, creator, and leader your future self will be proud of. Not because you forced yourself into someone else’s mold but because you had the courage to walk your own path with Saturn’s wisdom in one hand and Aries’ fire in the other.

So this moon is a blend of earth and fire. It’s grounded, but it’s also bold. It helps you trust the long game while still daring to move forward today.

In The Creative Witch’s Monthly Guide to Growing Your Business with the Moon and Stars, I created a section to help you choose one clear, concrete desire or outcome. It will be something you’re ready to commit to, even if it takes time. Then I help you run it through a checklist the Capricorn moon will appreciate. You’ll ask yourself:

Is this realistic?
Is this aligned with my values?
Have I thought it through?
Do I actually want this, or do I think I should want it?
Is this a step toward something meaningful?

Once you’ve refined your intention, I help you break it down into milestones. What are the small wins that will show you you’re making progress? You write them down. Make them tangible. Then, and this part is just as important, I help you decide how you’ll celebrate each one. You don’t have to throw a party. But you do have to let yourself feel it. A moment of acknowledgment, a tiny ritual, a treat or a rest day. Something that lets your nervous system know you’re safe to succeed.

To seal it all in, there’s space in the guidebook to create a mandala under the full moon. This becomes your circle of intention. In the center, you draw or write your full moon goal then you continue to draw your mandala from the center out as you consider how your success extends outward, touching other parts of your life, including your relationships, your health, your sense of peace and purpose and how it affects other people too. This is how the mandala becomes a spell. A sacred pattern that carries your full moon intention out into the world.

If you subscribe to my monthly guidebook, make sure to spend some time near the full moon going through that section. If not, you can follow the instructions I share on Thursday’s art journal with the moon prompt.

This full moon in Capricorn is about honoring the work you’ve already done, taking responsibility for what comes next, and planting your intentions in the kind of soil where they can truly grow. It’s the kind of full moon magic your future self will thank you for.

Monday

The week kicks off with the gibbous moon in the sign of Sagittarius having a happy relationship with Mercury and a tense relationship with Mars on Monday.

This mix of energy can feel like your thoughts are moving fast and flowing easily. You might be full of ideas or inspired to learn something new or share something meaningful. Sagittarius loves big visions and hopeful thinking, and with Mercury in the mix, your words and ideas might feel especially powerful. It’s a good time to speak from the heart or write something that carries your message out into the world.

But with the moon squaring Mars, there’s also a little fire underneath it all. You might feel restless or impatient. Mars wants to take action right now, while the moon in Sagittarius is already galloping ahead with big dreams. The tricky part is that tension between inspiration and frustration where you might want to leap ahead but haven’t quite grounded the steps yet. This is the kind of energy that can make you snappy, impulsive, or push too hard too fast. So if you notice that, just breathe and give your body a little space to go for a walk, stretch or shake it out. Then, when you feel less impatient or antsy and more grounded and calm, revisit the situation and thoughtfully consider how you want to move forward.

This is a beautiful day to return to your “why.” Sagittarius always wants to know what it’s aiming toward. If you’re working on a project or building something in your business, take a few moments to reconnect with your deeper reasons.

Why does it matter?

Who are you doing it for?

What do you believe in enough to stay the course even when things get frustrating or take longer than you hoped?

In your art journal today, let yourself dream wide but keep one foot on the ground. You might draw an arrow or a path leading toward a goal. Around it, write or collage the words that keep you going such as your purpose, your vision or your belief in what you’re building. Then, if Mars energy is feeling a little too sharp or pushy, paint or color in a way that calms your system.

Let your page hold both fire and focus. Trust the direction you’re moving in, even when you’re still a work in progress.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what you are aiming your future towards.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the moon is void of course all day like she was last week and the week before so we’re going to work with her energy in our art journals in the same way we did the last two weeks.

When the moon is void of course, it means she’s either either in between signs or not speaking to any of the other planets or both. She’s in a kind of dark silence.

I think of it as though the moon is just hanging around alone and in the in-between space – no longer where it was but not yet where it will be yet either. The moon likes reflecting energy down to us but when it’s void of course there’s nothing substantial for it to reflect so its reflecting that emptiness back to us.

It’s not a good time to start something brand new or take decisive action but it is a powerful time to rest, reflect, and integrate. It’s a moment to let everything settle so the insights can land and the changes inside of us can integrate.

In your art journal today, treat this as sacred in-between time. This is not a day for pushing. It’s a day for listening. It’s a day to ask yourself:

What did the moon stir up in me over the past few days?

What wants to shift now that the dust has settled?

You could create a spread that feels like a soft landing or a visual journal page that simply holds space for what’s rising in you. Maybe use light colors, watery shapes, or gentle lines. Maybe make a collage that reflects where you’re coming from and where you sense you’re headed, even if it’s still unclear.

This long void moon is reminding us that growth doesn’t always happen in the action. Sometimes, it happens in the stillness. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do for our business or our creative work is not to plan or push, but to be with ourselves and to process, to feel, to reconnect with our own rhythm. So let Monday be a soft day. Let it be a day where you don’t force anything. Let your art journal hold the in-between space. Let your nervous system recalibrate. Let it be a day of reflection and integration. This is part of the magic, too.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that allows you to relax and integrate everything you’ve been moving through lately.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, the moon moves into the sign of Capricorn where it will be for the full moon tomorrow.

Capricorn is an earth sign, which emphasizes stability, responsibility, and practicality and highlights such qualities as groundedness, persistence, and a strong connection to the physical and natural world.

The Crone archetype, which I like to think of as embodied by the wise old woman, and Hecate, the goddess of magic, crossroads, and deep intuition, both reflect Capricorn’s spiritual depth. These figures represent wisdom that comes with experience, the ability to navigate transitions and endings, and the power to transform and rebirth. The moon in Capricorn activates these archetypes, urging us to embrace the wisdom of letting go, the importance of life’s cycles, and the value of introspection and inner guidance.

The moon in Capricorn teaches us about the cycle of life and about acknowledging that endings are a natural and necessary part of growth and transformation. It encourages you to respect the process of aging, to honor the wisdom that comes with experience, and to understand the power of your own inner guidance as you navigate the complexities of life.

It’s a time to set realistic goals, to plan for the future with a clear and practical mind, and to honor the wisdom you’ve gained through your life’s challenges and transitions. The energy of Capricorn invites you to build a solid foundation, to respect the limits of the physical world, and to work patiently and persistently towards your goals.

Engaging in practices in your art that connect you to the earth can help you tap into Capricorn’s grounding energy. You can also reflect on your life’s journey and acknowledge the lessons you’ve learned.

The moon in Capricorn is also a time to honor the wisdom of age, the necessity of endings, and the transformative power of introspection and practical planning. By grounding yourself, respecting the cycles of life, and aligning your actions with your inner wisdom, you can navigate life’s challenges with grace and build a strong, stable foundation for your future.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what an ending it is time for you to acknowledge.

Thursday

On Thursday, we greet the full moon in Capricorn.

The full moon in Capricorn peaks on July 10, and just a few hours before it reaches full brightness it soaks up a steady boost from Mars in Virgo. That earthy Mars touch is quiet but important. It’s the kind of “let’s-get-organized” fire that helps you move forward without the drama so think focused, methodical, and humble kind of energy and motivation. The moon will carry that vibe as it shines over your work, nudging you to handle the small details that lead to real progress.

Because the full moon sits in the sign of Capricorn, the energy is naturally geared toward clarity, structure, and the long game. Capricorn isn’t impressed by pretty words or vague dreams; it wants intentions you can measure and follow through on and goals that stand the test of time. That doesn’t mean they have to be grand or flashy. They just need to be honest, realistic, and rooted in what truly matters to you and your business.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of maturity and devotion. Saturn reminds us that genuine growth is earned through consistency and integrity. When we honor boundaries, pace ourselves, and keep returning to our deeper “why,” we end up building something our future selves can lean on and something our inner child can feel safe in. Think of it as quiet magic that lives in invisible progress, in routines that protect your energy, and in showing up even when no one is clapping.

Right now Saturn sits in Aries, adding a spark of courage to the mix. That placement asks you to claim your path and lead yourself so no more waiting for permission. You don’t have to rush or be fearless, but you do need to act from self-trust and a belief in yourself and your path. Saturn in Aries says, “Own your work, speak your truth, and build it brick by brick.” It may test old fears of being seen or not being good enough, but those tests are doorways to a stronger, more honest version of you.

So under this full moon, choose one clear commitment. Choose something tangible you’re willing to nurture over time. Break it into doable milestones then figure out how you’re going to celebrate every milestone. This is about slow, intentional effort consistently being done over a long period of time but learning to celebrate the milestones along the way.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what long-term goal or dream you’re committing to under this moon.

Friday

On Friday, the moon moves into Aquarius and sits right next to Pluto.

Pluto is the planet that digs up whatever has been buried, especially around our relationship with power. For many of us who grew up in homes where power was used over us, power can feel heavy or even dangerous. We learned to stay small, to keep the peace, to doubt our instincts. But Pluto’s message is simple: real power isn’t domination. Real power is knowing your own truth, standing in it, and using it to help the collective.

Aquarius adds a community lens to that lesson. It reminds us that when sensitive, caring people reclaim their power, everyone benefits. Your art, your healing skills and your ideas are all medicine. When trauma keeps that medicine locked inside, the whole community misses out. So this moon and Pluto moment is a chance to notice where you still shrink back and to imagine what might change, both in your life and around you, if you let yourself take up your full space.

This can feel scary. Old memories of being overruled or ignored may surface. If that happens, pause and reassure the part of you that’s still wary. Power, in its healthy form, is not a threat; it’s a resource. It lets you set boundaries, share your gifts, and speak up when something’s wrong.

Ask yourself:

Where in my business or creative work am I playing small because I’m afraid of being “too much” or I’m afraid I’m not enough?

What change in my community or in the lives of my clients do I inspire when I allow my work be seen and heard?

What medicine am I carrying that my community hasn’t received yet and what small, doable action can I take this week to share it?

Even one honest post, one new offer, or one brave conversation can start to shift the pattern from power-over to power-with.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents the ways you (and/or your work) inspire positive change?

Saturday

On Saturday, the moon in Aquarius is opposing Mercury in Leo.

This can stir up a little tension between your feelings and your voice. Aquarius wants to keep things cool, thoughtful, and collective. It cares about the bigger picture, the long game, and what’s best for the group. Mercury in Leo, on the other hand, is bold and personal. It wants to speak from the heart and be seen for who it is.

You might feel torn between saying what you really feel and keeping the peace. Or you might feel unsure about how much space to take up, especially if you’re someone who’s learned to hide your light or second-guess yourself in order to stay safe. This moon can bring that up. It can also make you wonder: “Is what I have to say helpful or self-centered?” That’s a good question to ask when you want to speak clearly and with care but it’s not a great question to ask if you’re asking it as a way to shut yourself down.

In business, this energy can show up when you’re trying to write content, speak about your offers, or express what you stand for. You may feel a little blocked or uncertain. That’s okay. It doesn’t meat that you’re doing it wrong. It’s a sign that you’re being asked to find your balance and to express yourself with heart, but without making it all about you. To be real and generous at the same time.

In your art journal today, you might explore the parts of you that feel misunderstood or afraid of being too much.

Where did you first learn that it was safer to stay quiet or not share your ideas?

Where in your business or creative life do you hold back you voice and what would it feel like to speak with honesty and care?

If you’ve ever been shamed, ignored, or overpowered when you tried to express yourself, it makes sense that you’d second-guess whether your voice is helpful or needed. But the truth is: it usually is. You just might not have been met with the kind of listening that helped you trust that.

When you’re not speaking to prove something, fix someone, or defend yourself but instead you’re expressing yourself to connect, this is helpful to others. If you can feel that you’re grounded in care, and that you’re speaking from a calm and open place in your body (not from urgency, fear, or a need to be right), that’s a good sign that you’re expressing yourself in a way that helps not harms.

It also helps to ask: Why do I want to share this?

If the answer is something like, “Because I think it might help someone else feel less alone,” or “Because this truth has changed something for me and I want to pass it on,” that’s usually helpful. If it’s coming from a deep, loving part of you that wants to offer support not control or impress then it probably matters.

And in your art journal, if you want to explore this more deeply, here’s a prompt:

What part of me believes my voice could be helpful?

What part of me still worries it’s not?

What do each of these parts need from me today?

Let yourself draw or write what each of those parts looks or feels like today and what they might need from you.

In your art journal, paint, draw or collage an image that represents how your voice can help your community.

Sunday

On Sunday afternoon, the moon in Pisces has a tense relationship with Uranus in Gemini.

This can stir up some emotional and mental discomfort. Pisces is a deeply feeling, sensitive, and intuitive sign. It’s soft, spiritual, and often connected to your dreams, imagination, and inner guidance. But when the moon is in Pisces and gets activated by Uranus which is a planet that brings surprises, sudden shifts, or a sense of unpredictability, it can feel jarring. It’s like your nervous system is tuned to softness and rest, but your mind gets hit with a lightning bolt of thoughts, ideas, or restlessness.

Emotionally, this might show up as feeling scattered or overstimulated even though a part of you just wants to slow down and be still. You might feel like your mind is racing while your heart is asking for peace. You could notice that you’re jumping from one idea to the next, or feeling frustrated because something inside of you is ready to receive and flow, but another part wants to figure everything out all at once.

This kind of day can be uncomfortable, especially if you’re a sensitive or creative person with a history of trauma. The tension between head and heart and between logic and intuition, can bring up old feelings of being pulled in too many directions or not being able to trust yourself. Uranus might spark new thoughts about how you do things in your business including things you want to change, experiment with, or disrupt but the Pisces moon might make it hard to ground those ideas in something solid. So it’s important to slow down and hold space for both: the part of you that wants to dream and flow, and the part of you that’s being sparked with new insights or urges to break out of old patterns.

Practically speaking, this is a good day to make space for quiet reflection, especially if things feel noisy in your mind. You don’t need to act on every new idea that comes through today. Instead, treat this as a day to listen. You might write down your ideas, notice which ones feel exciting and which ones feel overwhelming, and just give yourself space to sort through it later. This is not a day to force clarity or make big decisions. It’s a day to honor your nervous system, pay attention to your inner world, and let things unfold without pressure.

In your art journal, you can work with this energy by drawing a visual conversation between two parts of you including the part that wants to rest and dream, and the part that’s feeling sparked and restless. You could draw them as characters or symbols. Give each one a voice. Let them each say what they need, what they’re afraid of and what they hope for. This can be a way to witness the tension inside of you with care instead of trying to solve it.

You might also want to create a page where you draw a large circle and fill it with all the surprising ideas or thoughts that come to you today. Don’t judge them. Just let them spill out. And then in a quiet moment, come back and circle the ones that feel meaningful, the ones that tug at your heart. This is how you begin to sort through the noise and find the signals that matter.

This tension between the Pisces moon and Uranus in Gemini might not feel easy, but it’s trying to wake something up inside you. It’s trying to show you something about how you balance rest and action, softness and innovation, inner knowing and outer expression. If you’re growing a business that reflects who you really are, these moments of tension are important. They help you see where you’ve been trying to follow someone else’s path or where you’ve been holding back your magic. So even if it feels uncomfortable, there’s wisdom in it so take the time to witness it and be with it.

Let this be a day where you listen more than you act. Let your art journal hold the parts of you that don’t quite fit together yet. And remind yourself: you’re allowed to move slowly. You’re allowed to feel confused. You’re allowed to take your time as you grow something real.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what you’re witnessing in your inner world today.

with love,
