Working with Leo New Moon in Your Art Journal
The new moon in Leo is on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in the northern hemisphere. This new moon is your chance to reconnect with the part of you that knows how to shine because it just feels good to let your heart lead. After all the hard work you’ve done this year (and especially this month), you deserve to pause and remember the joy of it all. This moon is like a warm summer spotlight inviting you to play, to dream, and to show up in your business and life with a little more sparkle and a lot more heart.
Leo energy wants you to be bold and real. It wants you to speak your desires out loud and not hold back your affection or creativity. It’s the kind of energy that says, “If I’m going to do this, I’m going to do it in a way that feels good and lights me up.” And when you move from that place and when you let yourself love what you’re creating and let others see your joy, that’s when magic happens.
Leo is the part of you that wants to shine and again, not for approval or attention, but because something inside you is too bright and alive to stay hidden. It’s the part of you that remembers what joy feels like when it’s unfiltered and uncontained. When you tap into Leo energy, you remember that your presence matters. Your light matters. Your voice, your heart, your art…all of it was meant to be seen and shared.
Leo is ruled by the sun, so it carries a kind of steady warmth and confidence that says: I know who I am. I know what I love. And I’m not afraid to show up for it. This isn’t the kind of confidence that shouts or dominates. It’s the kind that glows. It’s the lion quietly surveying the land, trusting its strength. It’s the child putting on a show in the living room just because it’s fun.
It’s the artist painting not for praise, but because something in their soul needs to come out and be real.
Leo and Your Business
In your business, Leo energy helps you remember your why. It pulls you out of the hustle and back into the heart. It reminds you that people aren’t just buying your product or your service, they’re buying your magic, your passion, your spark. When you move from Leo energy, you lead with your heart. You say yes to showing up even when you feel vulnerable. You take creative risks. You share from a place of generosity because you’re filled up and not because you feel like you have to prove anything.
The magic of Leo is also fiercely loyal. It protects what it loves. It invests deeply in relationships and wants to uplift the people around it. So when you’re tapped into Leo energy, you’re not just creating for yourself, you’re creating for your people, your community and your mission.
You’re building something that reflects your true self and gives others permission to do the same.
And perhaps most importantly: Leo reminds you to enjoy it. To savor the moment. To dance in your kitchen, to wear the sparkly earrings, to send the love note, to make something just because you want to. Leo teaches us that fun, play, and pleasure are not distractions from success. They’re part of it.
So when you’re working with Leo energy, ask yourself:
Where am I holding back my light?
Where am I hiding when I could be sharing?
What would feel joyful and bold and creatively true for me right now?
Because your business isn’t just about goals. It’s also about expression. It’s about love. It’s about letting your heart take up space in the world. Leo reminds you that your light is meant to be seen. Not later but now.
Leo Energy and Your History of Trauma
If you’re an entrepreneur with a history of childhood trauma or emotional neglect, expressing Leo energy can feel both deeply appealing and incredibly vulnerable. Leo is the sign of creative expression, visibility, joy, and open-hearted courage. But if you grew up in an environment where it wasn’t safe to be seen, where your voice didn’t matter, or where shining too brightly brought punishment or rejection, Leo’s gifts might not feel accessible right away. You might long to be visible and confident in your business but when the moment comes to share your heart or your art, something in you pulls back and that’s okay. It’s a perfectly normal response for someone with your past.
This might show up as overthinking everything you want to post. It might feel like a freeze response when you try to promote your offers. It might sound like a quiet voice in your head saying, “Who do you think you are?” Or it might just feel like a numbness or disconnection from your own joy and creative fire. These are signs that younger parts of you are still protecting you from a time when it really wasn’t safe to be bold, playful, expressive, or emotionally open.
But here’s the beauty of Leo season and the new moon in Leo: this energy doesn’t demand performance, it invites play. It doesn’t expect you to be instantly confident, it just wants you to try something small that reminds you of your light. A color you love. A sentence you’re proud of. A story from your heart. A reel you make for fun. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about warming back up to the part of you that wants to be seen.
This new moon is a gentle opening to plant a seed for visibility, joy, and self-love but in a way that feels doable for your nervous system.
If your full Leo power feels too far away, just start with a spark.
Start with one little thing that feels real and warm and true. And remember, every time you show your heart in your business, even if it’s just to yourself, you are healing something old and creating something new.
So under this Leo moon, ask yourself:
What would feel playful to share?
What kind of visibility would feel kind and safe during this lunar cycle?
How can I honor the part of me that’s scared, while still taking a tiny step forward into the light?
You don’t have to be loud to be radiant. You just have to be YOU in whatever version of you wants to show up today. And the Leo new moon will meet you right there with courage, love, and a little extra sparkle.
This new moon is also the perfect time to remember why you’re doing all this in the first place. Why you chose the wild path of being an entrepreneur. Why you wanted the freedom to build something that reflects who you are. So take some time to write down your new moon intention. Let yourself imagine what your next level of success looks like and what would make it feel sweet, not just productive. Be specific.
Then commit to one small action that moves you closer to that vision in the few days during or after the new moon. That’s the window where new moon energy is strongest, and Leo wants you to act from the heart while your courage is lit up.

Monday
The week kicks off with the balsamic moon in Gemini having a happy relationship with Mercury on Monday.
The balsamic phase is the very end of the lunar cycle. It is a time when the energy is quiet, tender, and introspective. It’s not usually the time to launch or push or make something happen. It’s a time to listen. To rest. To soften. And in the sign of Gemini, the moon is inviting us to do that by tuning into our thoughts and the stories we’re telling ourselves.
What’s interesting about today is that the moon is also in a supportive relationship with Mercury in Leo. This means the emotional tone of the day is getting a gentle boost from Mercury which is the planet of communication, thinking, and self-expression and who happens to be in one of the most expressive and confident signs.
So even though we’re in a quiet, low-energy phase of the moon, there’s a little spark of insight available today. A moment where your inner voice maybe gets just a little louder. A bit clearer. And instead of criticizing you, it might actually cheer you on. It might say something kind. Something honest. Something brave.
I think of this moon-Mercury connection like a whisper from the soul that says: “Hey, you’ve grown. You’ve changed. You’re not the same person who started this lunar cycle. And even if you’re tired, even if you’re unsure, your voice is still here. And it still matters.”
In your art journal today, you might want to create a page that becomes a kind of love letter from your inner self to the part of you who’s been working hard all cycle long. Or you might want to reflect on what you’ve learned or what you’ve observed about yourself, your business, or your creative process over the last few weeks.
What are you ready to release with gratitude?
What no longer needs to come with you?
Since Gemini and Mercury are both about words and language, you could fill your page with gentle affirmations or supportive phrases. Maybe even write a letter to your business from the wisest part of you. Or draw your inner voice. What shape or color does it take when it’s kind? When it’s rooted in truth? When it wants you to shine?
You might ask yourself:
What am I ready to let go of in how I think about myself or my business?
What kind, true words do I most need to hear right now?
What story am I rewriting about my voice, my worth, or my magic?
This is a beautiful day to wind down. To take the pressure off. To give your nervous system a break. And to remember: your voice doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. Sometimes it’s in these quiet, reflective moments when the moon is waning, and Mercury is listening that you hear the most important things.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents a story you are rewriting about your voice, your worth or your magic.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, the moon is in her balsamic phase which is the very end of the lunar cycle, as she moves into the sign of Cancer, a place where she feels deeply at home.
This is tender energy. It’s the kind of energy that wraps you in a soft blanket and says, “Let it go now. You’ve done enough. Come back home to yourself.”
Cancer moons stir our emotions, but in the balsamic phase, those emotions often rise from the deeper, quieter places inside us and maybe even the places we usually try to hide or keep busy enough to ignore.
And as soon as the moon arrives in Cancer, she runs into a bit of tension with Saturn and Neptune in Aries. These are the energies in the sky that have been asking us to create new structures in our lives and businesses. They want us to build from the soul. But when the moon in Cancer comes into a tense relationship with these two planets in Aries, you might feel the pressure of that. Like you’re being asked to move forward, but you’re also carrying tender emotions that need to be acknowledged first. It might feel like you’re being pulled in two directions with one part of you longing to feel safe and supported and the other part feeling like it’s time to get serious or make big changes. That tension can bring up self-doubt or old stories that say you’re not ready or you’re not enough.
But later in the day, the moon connects with Jupiter, who is also in Cancer, and that softens everything. Jupiter brings a kind of emotional blessing here. He reminds us of our capacity to grow and not grow by pushing or striving but by nurturing what’s already here. There’s expansion available today, but it comes through emotional honesty. Through allowing your feelings, not avoiding them. Through letting yourself be emotionally and spiritually nourished.
In your art journal today, I recommend creating a page that feels like a sanctuary. You might want to draw or collage an image of home but not a literal home necessarily. Imagine what “home” feels like in your body or spirit. What is the emotional environment you’re trying to create in your business? What helps you feel safe enough to grow? Who or what are the inner supports that remind you that you belong?
You could also create a page with a river or body of water, then imagine placing your current emotional truths into that water with words, images, colors and imagine them floating away with the water. Let them be held and witnessed.
A few questions you might reflect on:
Where am I still trying to do things alone, without the emotional support I really need?
What emotional truth do I need to acknowledge before I can move forward?
What does my business need in order to feel like a safe place to grow from?
This is a day to be soft with yourself. You don’t have to fix or figure anything out. Just notice what’s stirring inside. Let your art journal be the place where those inner tides can rise and flow. You’re preparing for the new moon and clearing space, softening old stories, and making room for something more rooted and supported to take shape.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage that represents your inner sanctuary.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, the moon is still in her balsamic phase, resting in the sign of Cancer and whispering to us that it’s okay to slow down, reflect, and release.
This is the final stretch of the lunar cycle which means it’s a time when we’re meant to exhale. It’s not the moment for big leaps or loud declarations. It’s the moment for quiet clarity. For looking inward, gathering the wisdom of the past few weeks, and making space for what’s next.
What I love about today is that the moon is also having a gentle, supportive conversation with Mars in Virgo. It’s like your emotions (Cancer moon) and your actions (Mars) are sitting down together and saying, “Let’s be thoughtful about how we move forward.” There’s an ease here when it comes to taking small, grounded steps that come from the heart. Mars in Virgo doesn’t rush. Mars pays attention. Mars notices what needs tending to and brings care to the details. When the moon is speaking to Mars like this, it’s a lovely moment to take quiet action that feels emotionally aligned and especially the kind of emotionally aligned action that helps you prepare for the new moon.
In your art journal today, you might want to create a page that reflects this balance between your emotional world and your to-dos. Think of it as a space to gently organize what’s been heavy or tangled. You could draw two containers and have one that holds what you’re ready to release, and one that holds what you want to bring more attention and care to. Let this be a sorting ritual. A sacred edit.
You might even write a list or a tender inventory of where you’ve been and where you’re being gently nudged to go.
Ask yourself:
What’s one small, meaningful action I can take today to care for my future self?
What emotional truth have I been holding that I’m ready to lay down?
How can I bring more care and devotion to the foundations of my business?
This kind of moon phase reminds us that healing and growth aren’t always dramatic. Sometimes the most powerful magic happens in the quiet when we sit with our feelings, listen to our inner rhythm, and do one small thing that supports what we value most.
So today, let your art journal be a soft landing place. A space where your emotions and your practical wisdom can meet each other with compassion. You’re preparing for something new. And the more you release with tenderness, the more space you’ll create for what truly matters to come in.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what you’re releasing before tomorrow’s new moon.
Thursday
On Thursday, we greet the new moon in Leo.
The new moon is in conversation with all the big players in the sky right now. The moon is having a happy relationship with Uranus in Gemini and with Saturn and Neptune in Aries, and it’s also having an opposing relationship with Pluto in Aquarius. That’s a lot of energy. And it’s energy that’s pushing us to grow not just upward, but inward. It’s the kind of new moon that asks more of you, but it also wants to give more to you. It wants to show you what you’re capable of. It wants to help you remember why you chose this path in the first place.
New moons are usually about beginnings, but Leo new moons invite us to begin again from the heart. Leo is the part of the sky that rules sovereignty, creative expression, and personal truth. And in ancient astrology, the sun rules Leo. So when the moon meets the sun here, it’s like the soul is sitting down with the self and saying, “What do you really want to create?”
With Uranus involved, there may be flashes of insight or clarity that shake things up and probably in a good way. You might suddenly see something differently, or realize that an old belief no longer fits. With Saturn and Neptune lending their support, you have both structure and dream working together to help you build something that’s both spiritually meaningful and actually doable. And yes, Pluto is across the sky, watching. That opposition can stir up fear or intensity, especially if you’ve been taught that it’s dangerous to shine, dangerous to stand out or dangerous to lead. But Pluto doesn’t just challenge us. Pluto initiates us. This is soul-level work.
In your art journal today, I want you to create a page that becomes your altar for this new moon. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect. Just intentional. Just yours. In the center of the page, draw or collage something that represents your next level of success. Not the version that looks good on paper but the one that feels sweet.
What would success feel like if it were kind to your body? If it gave you room to breathe, to rest, to play? What would it feel like if your success wasn’t about proving yourself, but about expressing yourself? What if it was about letting the light inside you come all the way out?
Around that image, start building your altar. Add symbols of the supports you want to lean into like your spirit allies, the moon cycles, friends who see you, systems that work with your sensitivity or rituals that bring you back to your center. Think about what makes you feel strong, seen, and steady.
What gives you courage when you forget who you are?
Then, somewhere on the page, write your new moon intention. Let it come from the part of you that remembers why you started. Why you wanted the freedom of working for yourself. Why you chose the wild, weird, sacred path of being a healer, an artist, a creator, an entrepreneur. This isn’t just about goals. It’s about devotion. It’s about aligning your life and your work with your truth.
Let this page be a declaration, a commitment, and a prayer. You’re not just building a business. You’re building a way of life. And this Leo new moon wants to help you remember that.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your new moon intentions.
Friday
On Friday, the moon in Leo has a close relationship with Mercury.
Even though the new moon in Leo peaked yesterday, we’re still very much in new moon energy today. The moon is still in Leo, and this morning it meets up with Mercury retrograde in the same sign. I think of this as a moment when the moon which represents our emotional body, our intuition, our deep inner rhythms, leans in close to Mercury, the part of us that thinks, plans, and communicates, and whispers: “Wait… before we move forward, let’s remember what really matters.”
When Mercury is retrograde, things are turned inward. Communication slows down. Mental clarity can be a little foggy. And in Leo, a sign that speaks to personal truth, creative expression, and the courage to be seen, that retrograde motion invites us to pause and revisit how we’ve been sharing ourselves with the world.
Are you being honest about who you are and what you want?
Are you letting yourself take up space in your business the way you long to? Or are we still dimming your light out of habit or fear?
The moon meeting Mercury retrograde today brings our hearts and our minds into conversation. It’s like sitting in a quiet room with yourself and listening carefully to what your soul has been trying to say underneath all the noise.
In your art journal today, I invite you to create a page that listens. This isn’t about big bold declarations. It’s about slowing down and tuning in. Maybe you paint or draw a spiral, starting from the outside and slowly working your way in. Maybe you write down the question, “What part of me needs to be heard right now?” and then let your journal become a place for that voice to speak.
You can collage or sketch symbols that represent the parts of you that feel quiet, unseen, or forgotten in your business, especially the younger parts, the creative parts, the parts that once had big dreams but maybe haven’t had the support or safety to bring them fully into the light.
Let this page be a safe space to remember what you really want to say, what your heart really wants to create, and what kind of life and business would feel the most true to who you are now not who you used to be, or who you think you’re supposed to be.
This is a tender moon. It’s still planting seeds, still whispering possibilities. Let it guide you gently. Let it help you listen inward before speaking outward. Because the clarity you’re seeking about your business? It’s not out there. It’s already inside you, waiting for your attention.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that allows you to listen to your inner world and what it’s trying to express to you.
Saturday
On Saturday, the moon is still in her new phase, still close to the sun, still quietly tending to the seeds we just planted at the new moon in Leo. But now she’s moved into Virgo, and almost right away she finds herself in a bit of a tense relationship with Uranus, who’s in the sign of Gemini.
Uranus is the planet that shakes things up. It wants change, liberation, surprise. Virgo, on the other hand, is a sign that prefers calm, clarity, and order. So this square between them might stir up some friction inside us today, especially if you’ve been trying to get your thoughts in order or make a solid plan, but things keep feeling unpredictable or like they’re shifting beneath your feet.
You might feel an inner tug-of-war between wanting to organize your ideas and just get things settled and this other voice inside you that wants to break free from old ways of thinking, speak your truth more boldly, or follow a spark that doesn’t make logical sense yet. Both parts are valid. Virgo wants to tend to the details, to get things “right.” But Uranus is asking, “Right by whose standards?”
If you were raised in a way that taught you to be careful, to be modest, to stay small or get it perfect before moving forward, this energy might feel especially unsettling. You may bump into a part of yourself that still believes you have to do it all the “right” way before you’re allowed to shine or share your work. But Uranus is saying: Maybe there’s no right way. Maybe there’s just your way.
In your art journal today, I suggest creating a page that holds space for both energies. On one half of the page, draw or write about what your inner Virgo is trying to create. Maybe it’s a plan, a dream, a structure, or just a desire for calm and clarity. On the other half, invite Uranus in. Let it be messy, wild, or intuitive. You might use bright, unpredictable colors, symbols that represent rebellion or freedom, or words that feel raw and alive.
Let these two parts of you speak to each other. Not to compete, but to collaborate. Ask yourself:
Where am I being called to loosen my grip, even just a little?
What part of me is ready to grow, even if it’s not neat or polished?
This is still new moon energy. You’re still in the tender space of visioning and planting. And sometimes, the most powerful visions are the ones that break you out of the old molds you didn’t even know you were still living inside.
Let your art journal be a space where the order and the chaos can meet. Let it help you see what’s asking to stay, and what’s asking to break free so that your business, and your life, can grow into something even more aligned with who you really are.
In your art journal, paint, draw or collage an image that represents doing things your way in your business.
Sunday
On Sunday, the moon in Virgo is having a happy relationship with Jupiter who is in the sign of Cancer.
Virgo and Cancer both care deeply about tending to what matters. Virgo brings the steady hands, the focus, the ability to sort and refine. Cancer brings the heart, the care, the intuition. So when they work together like this, it’s a good time to pay attention to the things in your business that feel both emotionally meaningful and practically helpful. That sweet overlap between what nourishes others and what nourishes you.
Because Jupiter is involved, there’s also a sense of possibility in the air, like a breath of encouragement, reminding you that what you’re building matters and it’s okay to dream a little bigger. Not from ego or pressure, but from devotion. From wanting to be of service in a way that feels good and right and true.
In your art journal today, you might want to create a page that celebrates what’s working. Virgo energy can sometimes be focused on what still needs fixing but today, invite in Jupiter’s generous gaze and Cancer’s soft heart. Ask yourself:
Where am I seeing quiet growth?
What parts of my business are actually starting to feel rooted and real, even if they’re still small?
What do I want to nourish more of?
You could draw or paint a garden bed and fill it with symbols of what’s beginning to bloom in your work. Or you could write a letter to your business, thanking it for what it’s given you, whether that’s clarity, confidence, a connection with someone special, or the healing that comes from showing up for yourself consistently.
This is still new moon energy, and Virgo moons are great for making refinements. So think of this as a day to gently sort through what you’ve started and decide what needs more love, what’s ready to grow, and what doesn’t need your attention right now. Let Jupiter remind you that you don’t have to do it all at once. Let Cancer remind you that your emotions are wise. Let Virgo help you create the space where magic and momentum can meet.
This is your sacred work. And it matters.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what’s working in your life or in your business.
