Art Journal with the Moon February 13-19 2023

Art Journal with the Moon for February 13-19, 2023

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Few Thoughts Before We Get Started

I don’t really know when my relationship with the moon started because I think I’ve been worshiping it since ancient times but in this lifetime, my moon rituals started with friends.

We’d sneak away from our roles and responsibilities and meet in the woods or in a grove, lay a blanket on the dewy grass, start a fire, unload our collection of sticks and bells and feathers and oils or whatever other object seemed sacred to us at the time and did whatever our spirit called us to do. For a few precious moonlit moments we were wild together.

Over time, my moon rituals became more solitary – just me, the moon and my art. I needed that. I needed to greet my own wild nature without being influenced – even when that influence was coming from people I love and treasure.

My solitary journey with the moon started with the new and full moons and the seasons. It was a simple rhythm and I followed it until I felt the beat of the moon in my blood.

I wanted more so I started to sit with the moon and my art journal at each phase of the moon. It was a rhythm with a few more beats but still constant and stabilizing.

Maybe it was inevitable but I once again wanted more so I started to sit with the moon and my art journal every day. I started to pay attention to the cadence of the cosmos and wove it in with the simple beat of the moon phases. Instead of a simple beat I felt the complex rhythm of the cosmos – the long, drawn out notes of the distant planets and the quick, ever-changing notes of the closer ones. The moon was interacting with it all and the sequence of sounds that all the planets played became as soothing and comforting as the simple beat of the moon phases I started with.

This week the moon enters its darkest phases. Darkness isn’t embraced in the culture I grew up in – especially our own inner darkness or the collective darkness we are all dealing with everyday. Embracing discomfort and the unknown is unusual. It’s more common to want to escape or sugar-coat it but it’s part of the rhythm. Dipping down in the dark and feeling those deep low notes is as important as rising up and enjoying those sweet high notes.

I feel like I’m coming out of a dark period of my life (yes sometimes they last for years not just days) and I’m really proud of the way I handled it. I couldn’t have done it without my guardian angel Cassandra, my devotion to the Great Soul Mother Goddess, my therapists, the steadiness of my amazing husband, my ever-compassionate best friends and the moon and my art journal but still – I am proud of how I handled this long dark phase in my life.

It lasted over eight years and I met the darkness with reverence. I found acceptance and when I couldn’t, I allowed resistance. I was petulant and rageful and angry and bitter and broken and I complained and believed I was a victim and I was oh so sad for long periods of time but I allowed all of my ugliness to surface. I still can’t believe I did it.

It’s been a really hard period of darkness and although I know the darkness is always with me and always needing my attention, I feel like this particularly hard part of my life is winding down.

That’s what the new moon feels like to me – the turning point. The point where death, decay and destruction have become still and new life is taking root.

New life is taking root inside me. I can feel it. I even have an exciting new creation to share with you soon, at the spring equinox but for now,  I want to share with you the new mini-course I created. It’s called ART JOURNAL WITH THE PISCES MOON TO PLAY WITH YOUR INTUITION.

It’s an online course that I’m creating during these magical dark phases and that you will have access to on the new moon, Monday, February 20th. If you love the idea of creating pages in your art journal and working with the MAP Method to develop and play with your intuition, come join me.

Join Me

IT’S TIME TO HEAL AND CREATE MAGIC!

In this mini-course we align with the energy of the Pisces new moon to develop and play with your intuition and set an intention around allowing your true spirit to shine more brightly in your everyday life.

Pisces energy is mystical, dreamy, hopeful, magical, flowing, oceanic and intuitive. It amplifies your sensitivities and heightens your psychic gifts. It’s the perfect energy to develop and play with your intuition.

In this mini-course, we use art to develop and play with your intuitiondive into your shadows and set your new moon intentions. We also work with your subconscious mind and the MAP Method to rewire your brain where it needs it most in order to clear what blocks you from opening your third eye more fully, developing your intuition and trusting your psychic gifts. Monday

The moon is in the sign of Sagittarius today.

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter so it’s carrying a little of that planet’s good energy as well.

Sagittarius is a fire sign. It is expressive and positive and humorous, optimistic, adventurous, experimental, adaptive, passionate and fun but it can be focused on too many things. Sagittarius energy likes to help us grow and enjoy ourselves through experiencing all life has to offer. It focuses on personal growth, freedom, expansion, lived experience, learning through trying and doing and embodiment. It’s a curious energy that asks questions and looks for answers.

Let’s use this Sagittarius energy to think about the possibilities of today.

If today could go better than you expected, what would that look and feel like?

When you go to sleep tonight, what will you celebrate and be grateful for?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image of your perfect day.

Tuesday

Today the moon is in the last quarter phase.

This phase is when the moon is once again half in light and half in shadow.

To me, this symbolizes choices and decisions. Take time to consider the choices you make in your everyday life and how they impact you, your goals and your community.

It also symbolizes seeing both sides of a story so finding ways to put yourself in the shoes of someone you disagree with at this time can help you gain wisdom or a perspective you had not considered before.

It’s also a time to celebrate how far you’ve come, how much you do and how much you’ve grown.

Take a moment to consider how much you’ve learned since the new moon.

What have you learned about relationships in the last few weeks?

What have you learned about yourself in the last few weeks?

What have you learned about reaching your goal since the new moon?

Where have you grown the most in the last few weeks?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image about putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.

Wednesday

The moon is in a trine, or in other words, a harmonious relationship with the beautiful planet Venus today.

Venus is associated with fertility and growth and represents beauty, grace, softness and gentleness. It brings love, friendship, harmony, passion, sensuality, pleasure and is concerned with our relationships and our relationship with pleasure and joy.

The moon and Venus both have receptive qualities.

In the spiritual realm, Venus and the moon work well with intuitive natures to encourage you to live in flow. They provide you with the energy that helps you open, surrender and trust.

In the physical realm, the moon represents the body so bringing that gentle energy of Venus to your body by focusing on doing things that make you feel happy, nurtured and cared for today is helpful.

In the emotional realm, allow the full spectrum of your emotions the respect they deserve today and try to express how you feel in ways that bring harmony and gentleness to your relationships.

In your art journal, create an image that captures what living in flow looks or feels like to you.

Thursday

Today, the moon is in the sign of Capricorn.

Capricorn energy is receptive and nocturnal in nature. It is also pragmatic, deliberate, persistent, disciplined, and conservative.

Capricorn energy loves practical and useful actions but it can be reserved or dismissive of your emotions. Capricorn energy is great for staying focused, following through on the commitments you made to yourself and getting things done.

Think about your inner parts – whether they are parts that are younger or past life parts or ancestral parts and be curious for a moment. Which of your inner parts might be triggered by Capricorn energy?

Do you have parts that struggle with discipline? Do you have parts that were emotionally restrained when in truth they actually wanted to speak up and express themselves? Do you have parts that feel deflated when they have to be practical or pragmatic or were there people in your life who aren’t pragmatic enough and you have parts that didn’t feel safe or cared for in that energy?

In your art journal, create an image that represents how you feel about discipline and structure.

Friday

The moon moves in the air sign of Aquarius today.

Aquarius is ruled by the planet Saturn so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well today.

Aquarius is fixed air sign so it brings that energy of fluidity and the ability to change but it couples it with being constant, dependable and able to persevere. Aquarius energy likes to act its own way and distance itself from groups. It is air energy so it concentrates its focus on the intellect and the mind but it can be stubborn. If you’re having a hard time being your own person, the moon in Aquarius can help you love and accept the quirky, different and unique things about yourself.

Imagine you loved every bit of yourself and knew that everything that made you different was deeply on purpose and ultimately helpful to everyone you are connect with today.

Imagine you are perfect just as you are – exactly where you are right now in your life with the exact perfect personality, habits and ways of being.

Imagine nothing about you has to change for you to reach your goals.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that celebrates your individuality.

Have fun with your art journal and the moon this week.

with love,
