Art Journal with the Moon for February 20-26, 2023

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Few Thoughts Before We Get Started

Happy new moon my creative friends.

We are now at the Pisces/Virgo polarity because the sun moved into the sign of Pisces.

While the sun is in Pisces, the moon will snuggle up in front of it and usher in a new lunar cycle. This lunar cycle begins with the new moon in Pisces and the energy of this moon holds both beginnings and endings. It’s the last sign in the zodiac and as such it symbolizes carrying all the lessons and wisdom that you collected on your life’s journey. It represents that point in our life cycle, if we’re lucky enough to experience it, where we have lived through many experiences and are now facing the void. When we enter the void, one experience will have ended and another will begin.

Pisces is that point in the journey. It is the drop that returns to the ocean and it is the ocean within the drop. It is living between worlds and it is feeling connected to Source.

Pisces energy is mystical, dreamy, hopeful, magical, flowing, oceanic and intuitive. It is every lesson on the path and coming full circle. Pisces energy helps you connect to your divine essence and reminds you that all endings usher in new beginnings, the promise of rebirth is ever-present and if you look close enough, signs of renewal are always there.

At the new moon in Pisces, I invite you to set intentions around living from your true spirit. You’ll want to consider exactly what area of your life the Pisces energy is activating according to your birth chart but I guide you through that in the Creative Moon Guide I sent in your inbox.

Pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions. I like to imagine one of the fish is swimming downwards towards the depths of my shadows while the other fish is swimming upwards towards the light of my true self. Both directions are necessary for the cycle to be whole.

Happy new moon! The moon is in the new moon phase today.

The new moon is the darkest of the moon phases. I like to think of this phase as an empty garden plot filled with rich black dirt just waiting for me to plant a seed in. It is a time to go inward, be still and dream up what you next want to create in your life. You can help yourself get unstuck by using this time to get clear on what it is you really want, look forward, plan and think about what success means to you – especially in the area of your life that the new moon was focusing its energy in.

During the New Moon, I like to create art journal pages around manifesting, getting clear on what it is I really want, looking forward, planning and thinking about what I want the next Moon Cycle to look like.

The New Moon is a perfect time to stretch your imagination so you can better conceptualize what is possible in your life. We have a tendency to not see our value or our worth and feel as if we don’t deserve all the love and abundance available to us and consequently we dream and/or think small.  I like to spend some time during the new moon opening my heart and helping it learn how to feel worthy of receiving more goodness and possibilities.

To personalize this new moon even further, let’s get specific and see the area of YOUR life that this new moon energy is focused on. Once you know the area of your life the Pisces new moon is affecting, you can consider how you want to live more fully from your true spirit in that area of you life to help you reach your goal. Think about these areas of your life and consider what intentions you want to make during the new moon in order to allow more of your spirit to shine through in your friendships and community or your hopes and wishes.

For Gemini people like me, the new moon is inviting you to set intentions for living from your true spirit when it comes to in your career, reputation or ideas of success. During this new moon, visualize your intentions for moving forward in your career, the kind of success you want to achieve or the kind of reputation you want to build and how your true spirit can shine more brightly in these areas of your life.

If your rising sign is in the sign of Cancer, then the new moon is inviting you to set intentions for living from your true spirit when it comes to your faith, spiritual practices, international travel or future success. Think about these areas of your life and consider what intentions you want to make during the new moon in order to allow your spirit to shine more brightly in your spirituality or travel dreams or your goals for the future.

For Leo people, the new moon is inviting you to set intentions for living from your true spirit when it comes to in the area of death, taxes, your psyche or any debt you have accumulated. How will living more from your true spirit help you clear any energetic, emotional or physical debt you may be carrying (your own or your ancestors’)? If you were living more fully and truly from your true spirit in these areas of your life, what would that look and feel like? For Scorpio people, the new moon is inviting you to set intentions about living from your true spirit when it comes to your children, hobbies, pleasure or your creativity. Tuesday

The moon moves in the fire sign of Aries today.

Aries is ruled by the fiery planet Mars so the moon is carrying a little bit if that planet’s energy today as well.

Aries is action, quick responses and impulses. It values action. When the moon is in the sign of Aries as it is today, it can bring abrupt energy that is blunt and harsh – maybe even sometimes aggressive but it also helps to light a spark in your spirit and connect you to your passion and enthusiasm.

Think about what makes you light up.

What makes you feel alive?

Have you been doing what makes you feel alive lately?

Wednesday

The moon is in an intense relationship with Venus today. I call it intense because astrologically speaking they are close together and this amplifies and intensifies the energy the moon is reflecting down to us from this relationship with Venus.

Venus wants to bring fertility and growth. Venus loves the idea of reigning more beauty, grace, softness, love, friendship, harmony, passion, sensuality, intimacy and happiness into your life and relationships. The energy of Venus also brings playfulness, pleasure and joy. Venus wants to help you enjoy your life. Venus isn’t great at making you get your work done or motivating you to put effort into something but Venus does love to help you express yourself artistically and with love.

The moon is intensifying all this goodness so it’s a great day to focus on love, affection and pleasure. Venus wants us to see what its like to thrive not just survive. It’s a lot of good feeling energy to soak in so let’s magnetize all that goodness and anchor it into your body and spread it throughout your entire day.

Thursday

The moon is in a happy relationship with Jupiter today.

Jupiter wants to bring harmony, well-being, kindness, justice, abundance, growth, expansion, good luck and balance to your life. The moon is supporting Jupiter’s desire to do this in your life today.

The moon is the queen of the night. She wants to illuminate the darkness, bring about change, be a mirror to reflect us back to ourselves and awaken our receptive and intuitive powers. She represents your body and emotions and reminds you that life is an ever-changing cycle of birth, death, decay and rebirth. She wants to bring kindness, nurturing, novelty and adaptability.

Together, the moon and Jupiter are shining more peace into our lives today. They’re helping us feel open-hearted and generous. They’re supporting us in focusing on what connects us to each other and what brings us together. It’s energy that helps us feel calm and safe and willing to see and receive the goodness other people want to share with us. It’s energy that reminds us what’s good in our life.

One of the best ways to work with this energy is to drop into your heart and choose something in your life to feel grateful for.

Choose that one thing now and focus on it for a moment until you notice a calming, an opening or a small shift in your heart center.

Friday

Today the moon is in the waxing crescent phase.

This moon phase is when a silver sliver of the moon begins to appear in the night sky. The moon is moving from being dark, still and invisible to growing and coming into full power.

I like to think of this phase as the time when the dream seeds I planted during the New Moon are just starting to form shoots or tiny roots. I might not be able to see my prayers being answered or my dreams manifesting but I can have faith that despite the limited capabilities of what my physical senses can pick up, Spirit is conspiring in my favor and there are invisible forces at work in my life helping me to grow, heal, evolve and create.

In my art rituals, this is the time when I’m meditating on the intentions I set during the New Moon. I’m revisiting my intentions and trying to call them up in my imagination again and trying to tap into the emotions those intentions evoke within me. I’m feeding my dreams with the power of my imagination and my emotions.

How many invisible forces can you imagine are helping you today?

How many invisible actions can you imagine your angels and spirit guides are taking to help you reach your goals and manifest your new moon intentions?
