Planting Seeds of Intention with the Virgo New Moon: Astrology for Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs for August 18-24, 2025

In this post, I share a summary of the moon for the week of August 18-24, 2025 as it moves through the zodiac and interacts with the planets. I also talk about astrology for highly sensitive entrepreneurs and how to work with the energy of Virgo season and the Virgo New Moon.

Welcoming Virgo Season in Your Art Journal

As Virgo season begins on August 22, we shift from Leo’s bright, expressive fire into Virgo’s earthy, thoughtful care. In the northern hemisphere, this is a sacred and busy time in the natural world. The gardens are full. The fruit is ripening. The sun is still warm, but we can feel the slow turning toward harvest. The wheel is moving.

And right now, the growers and those who work closely with the land are doing something important. They’re beginning to gather seeds. They’re saving what’s good, sorting through what’s left behind, and carefully choosing what to keep for next season’s planting (my husband even did this in our garden recently). Not every seed will be saved. Some will be tossed. Some will be eaten. But the best and the ones full of life and potential will be kept safe for what’s to come.

That’s Virgo season. It’s a time of discernment. Of choosing with care. Virgo teaches us that abundance doesn’t mean keeping everything. It means honoring what matters. It means pausing to ask:

What’s useful?

What’s mine to carry forward?

What am I done with?

When we’re growing our businesses, it’s easy to accumulate ideas, habits, offers, relationships, roles and things that once served us but may no longer fit. Virgo invites us to hold each one in our hands and ask: Does this still align with who I am becoming and the business I want to grow now? Like sorting seeds, we get to decide what to keep, what to compost, and what to plant with deeper intention next growing season.

This is sacred work. It’s magical. It’s deeply loving to be this honest with yourself.

Virgo’s magic lives in the small, quiet acts of devotion. It lives in the spreadsheets and the schedules, but also in the herbs you steep, the altars you tend, the pages of your art journal, the healing work you do in private, and the boundaries you hold so your work stays rooted in what you actually want. Virgo’s magic is subtle, clean and true. It’s the radiance of right relationship with the land, with our bodies, with our work, and with ourselves.

So this Virgo season, let your art journal be a space for sorting. A place to sift through what’s accumulated both inside and out and come back to what you actually want to keep growing. Let it be a ritual of discernment. Write down, draw, sketch or paint the things you want to keep and the things you’re ready to let go of now. This season is a sacred invitation to choose again, more honestly, more gently, and more in alignment with the magic you are ready to receive and create now.

Working with the Virgo New Moon in Your Art Journal

Depending on your time zone, the new moon is happening late at night on the 22nd or early in the morning on the 23rd. For the mountain time zone that I am in, it is early in the morning on the 23rd.

The new moon in Virgo is soft, thoughtful, and grounded. Virgo is the part of the zodiac that helps us pause and take stock of where we are, what’s working, and what needs more care or clarity. It’s the energy of sacred refinement. It helps us look at the details of our life and business and ask, “Is this aligned with my values? Is this how I want to keep moving forward?” Not from judgment, but from a desire to bring things into deeper harmony.

New moons are typically a beginning. They’re like a blank page. A chance to reset and start again with fresh energy. When the new moon is in Virgo, it’s a powerful time to start something simple and sustainable. It’s a good time to start something you can nurture slowly and consistently. It’s not about big bold leaps. It’s about small, steady shifts that build real change over time. Virgo reminds us that the way we do things matters. That devotion lives in the way we show up with care, even in the tiniest everyday actions.

Virgo as Healer

Virgo also helps us tend to our inner world. It’s ruled by Mercury, the planet of the mind, which means this moon can bring clarity, but it can also stir up overthinking. That’s okay. It’s not here to make you perfect. It’s here to help you get honest with yourself gently and compassionately and then make small decisions from that honest place. It’s about creating routines that support your nervous system, processes that honor your energy, and plans that feel rooted in what really matters to you.

Virgo as Organizer

Under this new moon, you might feel called to organize something in your business or life, to begin a new project with care and precision, or to clear out what’s become overwhelming or cluttered either physically, emotionally, or spiritually. It’s a great time to take what’s been tangled or messy and bring a little more order and rhythm to it. Not because you’re trying to control everything, but because Virgo wants to help you create a strong, safe container for your gifts to grow inside.

Virgo as the Sacred Everyday

One of the things I love about Virgo energy is the way that it invites devotion not just to the work you do in the world, but to the way you do it. To the kind of person and entrepreneur you’re becoming. To the systems, habits, and support you need to show up with more ease and clarity. It’s a moon that honors the magic of everyday life and the way you care for your dreams in your everyday life.

This new moon in Virgo also invites something more than just setting intentions or organizing plans. Virgo, in its sacred essence, is the Priestess. She kneels at the altar of the everyday and weaves the holy into the ordinary. For those of us who are highly sensitive, who carry trauma, who often doubt our worth or feel overwhelmed by the world’s pace, this is not just another moon, it’s a moment to remember that tending is enough. That devotion, in small and quiet forms, is a kind of power too.

Uranus is Here to Free You Too

With Uranus in a tense relationship to this new moon, there’s an edge to the energy. It can feel like restlessness or anxiety, but beneath that, it might also be your soul knocking at the door. Uranus shakes us when we’ve been staying small too long, especially when that smallness was once safety. If you’ve learned to survive by being invisible, compliant, over-prepared, or self-critical, this moon might bring tension, not to hurt you, but to free you. It may whisper, “There is more for you. You are allowed to change.” But that change might not come through sudden bold moves. It might come through soft but radical choices, like trusting yourself enough to do less, or saying no without guilt, or letting your business reflect who you are now instead of who you were when you started.

Mercury Helping Your Voice Be Heard

With Mercury in Leo still in its post-retrograde shadow, this moon is also speaking to the parts of you that have struggled to be heard and not just by others, but by yourself. Leo isn’t about loudness; it’s about allowing your inner flame to be seen. And for trauma survivors, especially those raised in emotionally neglectful or overpowering homes, that can be terrifying. You may have learned that expressing your true thoughts and desires brought punishment, disconnection, or rejection. So you tucked your inner flame away. You learned to lead from your wounds. But this moon is a turning point. Virgo wants to help you build a business and a life that runs on love, not fear. Mercury in Leo wants your inner flame to shine and your voice to be heard and not the polished version, but the sacred, imperfect, trembling truth of who you are when your heart is wide open.

In your art journal, the invitation is to create not from the part of you that wants to get it “right,” but from the part that wants to be free. Begin with the question: Where have I been organizing my business around my wounds instead of my worth? Then ask: What would it mean to build this next chapter around love, devotion, and trust? These aren’t questions to answer quickly. Let yourself sit with them. Let your art hold the unspoken things like rage, tenderness, exhaustion, longing. Let the page be a place where your nervous system and your spirit both get to speak.

You might draw an altar. It could be literal or symbolic. In the center, place something that represents your most sacred intention. What does your soul truly long for? Around it, draw or collage the quiet supports that will help you carry this intention forward. Maybe it’s boundaries, breaks, body wisdom, the moon, your ancestors, your angels, your spirit guides or your truth.

The Virgo new moon reminds us that the sacred is not somewhere else. The sacred is in the details of your day, in the way you speak to yourself and in the way you choose to stay kind while building something that matters.

So yes, this new moon is practical. But it’s also holy. It’s a chance to return to your altar and not just the one in your home, but the one in your body. The one in your business. The one in your art journal. And to ask: What am I ready to devote myself to now, not because I have to, but because I love to? This is how you cast your spell. This is how you remember who you really are.

INSTRUCTIONS

For this new moon in Virgo, create a visual altar. Think of this as a sacred space on the page. It’s a place that holds your intention, your devotion, and the quiet magic you’re working with this moon cycle. It doesn’t have to look like a real altar (although it can if you want it to). It can be symbolic, abstract, or even just shapes, colors, and words that carry meaning for you. There’s no wrong way to do this.

Start by drawing or placing something in the center of the page that represents your most sacred intention for this lunar cycle. What does your soul truly long for right now? What would feel meaningful to bring to life not just in your business, but in your way of being from day to day? This could be a symbol, a word, an object, a simple shape, or a color that holds the energy of what you want to grow more of in your business. Don’t overthink it. Let it be something that speaks to your heart.

Next, build the altar around this central intention. Think about what kinds of support that will help you carry this dream forward in a gentle, sustainable, Virgo kind of way. Maybe you draw a circle around it and start to fill in that circle with symbols or collage pieces that represent the invisible forces that help you stay steady. You might include things like:

  • Rest
  • Clear boundaries
  • Time in nature
  • Listening to your body
  • Support from the moon
  • Guidance from your ancestors or angels
  • A reminder of your own truth

These don’t have to be fancy. You can write them as words. You can draw little icons or symbols. You can cut out images from a magazine or use stickers or washi tape. This isn’t about making something pretty. It’s about making something real and sacred for you. Virgo energy loves honesty and simplicity. So let yourself be imperfect. Let it be enough.

As you work on the page, notice how it feels in your body. Take your time. Let the act of drawing or placing each piece on the page be part of your ritual. You’re not just making a page; you’re building a space where your soul and your dreams for your business can sit together. Where they can breathe. Where they can begin again.

When you’re finished, take a few moments to sit with your altar. Let it speak back to you. Ask it what it needs. Ask what you need. This is your sacred space, and it will hold your intention for the coming days as the moon begins to grow. Let it be a quiet anchor. Let it remind you that your dreams matter and that you don’t have to carry them alone.

Monday

The week kicks off with the moon moving into the sign of Cancer on Monday.

Like the moon, the sign of Cancer is connected to our emotions. It’s also like the thoughtful friend who always remembers your birthday and shows up with tissues and ice cream when you’re feeling down.

Emotionally, Cancer is all about family, home, and those cozy comfort zones. It’s like a warm blanket that wraps around you, offering a sense of security in an uncertain world. Cancer’s energy can also be a bit moody and prone to emotional waves but overall it’s a time to honor your feelings, even the messy ones, and to nurture your inner landscape.

Spiritually, Cancer invites you to dive into your own psyche, to explore the depths of your emotions, and to connect with your intuition. It also encourages you to seek solace within yourself and to create a safe inner haven.

Today, in your art journal, create a visual representation of your emotional sanctuary.

This sanctuary can take any form that resonates with your soul. Imagine a place that embodies what calm and safety mean to you. It could be a lush garden with the soft rustling of leaves, a cozy room filled with your favorite books, a serene beach where the waves gently lap at the shore, or even a mystical forest with a protective light surrounding it. The key is in the details that make this space uniquely comforting to you. Visualize the colors, sounds, textures, and scents that fill this place and make it inviting.

In this space, add elements that hold personal significance. It might be a comfortable seat in a corner, a symbol of protection like a shield or a light, or items that evoke happy memories or feelings of peace. Personal touches make your sanctuary more real and emotionally resonant.

Your sanctuary should be a place of absolute security. If it helps, imagine protective barriers, like a fence around your garden or an aura of light, that keep this space safe and private. This is your haven, away from the chaos of the outside world.

When life becomes overwhelming, retreat to this sanctuary in your mind. Here, you can process your emotions freely, find a sense of calm, and gather your inner strength. It’s a place for you to heal and restore yourself without any external interference.

Your sanctuary can also be a place for seeking clarity and guidance. Ask yourself questions and listen for the answers that come from within. Often, the insights you gain here are reflective of your deepest subconscious wisdom.

Your inner emotional sanctuary is a space where you can cultivate inner peace and resilience, making the challenges of the real world more manageable. In this sanctuary, you’re not just finding an escape; you’re actively engaging in your emotional well-being and healing. In your art journal today, explore what your perfect emotional sanctuary looks like. What colors, textures, and images resonate with the idea of emotional security for you? Allow your art to be a reminder that you carry your safe haven within, no matter the storm outside.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your inner emotional sanctuary.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the moon is in the sign of Cancer and it is having a close relationship with Jupiter.

This kind of closeness between the moon and Jupiter brings ease and flow.

Jupiter wants to bring harmony, well-being, kindness, justice, abundance, growth, expansion, good luck and balance to your life. The moon is supporting Jupiter’s desire to do this in your life today because the comforting and nurturing qualities of the Moon merge harmoniously with the expansive and optimistic nature of Jupiter.

This can bring uplifting emotional and spiritual experiences. You might feel a surge of joy and optimism, a lightness that could elevate you above any sadness or despair that might come your way today. This is also a time when the spirit of generosity and kindness might feel more pronounced, creating an environment conducive to giving and receiving support and love, allowing you to connect more deeply with others. The closeness the moon and Jupiter share today may also provide an opportunity for insight and awareness, helping you have more empathy and understand yourself and others in a deeper way.

On a spiritual level, this energy could inspire spiritual growth, providing insights and wisdom that can deepen your spiritual beliefs and practices. It’s a time rich with the possibility of manifesting desires and intentions, focusing on the abundance the greater forces of Love have to offer you. It may also serve as a beacon, illuminating your higher calling and purpose in life and encouraging you to pursue your spiritual aspirations with renewed passion and enthusiasm.

Take a moment to close your eyes and imagine what it would feel like to be bathed in goodness – as if a warm magical liquid light was being poured all over your body and throughout all the corners of your life – all the people you interact with, all the places you will go today, all the spaces you will be in and all the experiences you will have are bathed in this warm golden light of goodness.

Take a deep breath and feel that all the way in your belly.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage that represents goodness, luck and blessings being poured into an area of your life you need it most right now.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, the balsamic moon moves into the sign of Leo.

The moon in Leo carries a warm, vibrant, and expressive energy that encourages you to shine your light and share your unique gifts with the world. Leo is ruled by the Sun in ancient astrology, which means this moon phase invites you to connect with your inner radiance, creativity, and sense of purpose. Emotionally, the Leo energy can feel bold, confident, and a little dramatic, inspiring you to take pride in who you are and what you’ve accomplished. The waning moon in Leo asks you to consider how you’re sharing your energy with others.

Are you expressing your authentic self in a way that feels true to you?

Are you inspiring others by simply being yourself?

This is a wonderful time to reflect on how your creativity, joy, and personal light can ripple outward and impact your relationships and community. The disseminating moon is about sharing and spreading the energy you’ve built during this lunar cycle. With Leo in the mix, it’s about doing so in a way that feels joyful, heartfelt, and aligned with your unique spirit.

In your art journal, you can work with this energy by creating a page that celebrates your creativity and self-expression.

Start by asking yourself:

What makes me feel alive and inspired?

What gifts or talents do I have to share with the world?

Use vibrant, bold colors like golds, oranges, or bright yellows to reflect the fiery, passionate energy of Leo. You might draw or collage images that represent the ways you want to share your light with others, whether that’s through your art, your words, or simply being fully yourself.

As you work, include affirmations or journaling that remind you of your worth and uniqueness, such as, “I am a light in the world,” or “My authentic self is my greatest gift.” If you’re feeling shy about sharing your creativity, use this time to explore where those blocks might be coming from and gently release them. The Leo moon is here to remind you that your presence matters, and your gifts deserve to be seen and celebrated. Let this art journal page become a reflection of your confidence, creativity, and the joy you bring to the world.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that celebrates your inner light.

Thursday

On Thursday, the balsamic moon in Leo is in a close relationship with Mercury.

This is quiet, reflective energy but it’s not passive. The balsamic moon is the last breath out before the new moon begins. It’s the wise elder part of the lunar cycle. It’s the part that says, “Let it go. Trust the unseen. Empty out so you can receive.” This is a time to rest, release, and return to yourself. When the moon is balsamic, we’re meant to gather the last threads of the story we’ve been living this past month and gently let them unravel in our hands.

With the moon in Leo, this release is heart-centered. Leo rules the heart in ancient astrology, so emotions may be tender. You might be noticing old insecurities, shame about being seen, or grief around how you’ve expressed yourself or held back. But Mercury is right there, whispering gentle insight. It’s a beautiful day for talking to yourself with love. Not from your critical mind, but from your soul and the part of you that sees the big picture. The part of you that knows how far you’ve come and what you’ve already survived. The part that believes you don’t have to work so hard to be worthy.

In your art journal, make space to listen inward. You might draw a heart or a little altar for your inner child. Maybe you write down something you’re ready to release around your visibility or confidence in your business. You could even write a letter to your younger self or to the version of you who’s been trying so hard. Thank them. Forgive them. Wrap them in gold. This is a soft, sacred day. One of those quiet but powerful moments when the moon reminds us: healing doesn’t have to be loud to be life-changing.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that helps you release what you need to release before the new moon.

Friday

On Friday, the moon is void of course all day.

A void of course moon sometimes happens when the moon is moving from one zodiac sign to another or when it’s not making any aspects with other planets. I think of it as though the moon is just hanging around alone and in the in-between space. It  is no longer where it was but not yet where it will be. The moon likes reflecting energy down to us but when it’s void of course there’s nothing substantial for it to reflect so its reflecting that emptiness back to us.

It’s as if it takes a brief pause, suspending its influence and opening a window of stillness and introspection.

Embrace this pause, take a step back, and reflect. This period is not about making significant decisions or initiating new projects; rather, it’s a time for taking stock, for going inward, and for focusing on self-care and inner peace.

When the moon is void of course, it is a good time to engage in activities that nurture your emotional well-being. This is also an opportune time for self-reflection and introspection, allowing you to connect more deeply with your inner self.

On the flip side, it’s best to avoid initiating new projects, making important decisions, or embarking on significant endeavors during this period. The energy of the void of course moon is not conducive to starting new things; rather, it supports wrapping up loose ends and investing in self-care.

Consider reflecting on these questions during a Void of Course Moon:

What areas of my life require my attention, but I’ve been neglecting?

How can I better care for my emotional well-being?

What loose ends do I need to tie up before moving forward?

The void of course moon invites you to embrace the pause, to indulge in introspection, and to nurture your emotional health. It’s a gentle reminder that in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, taking time for yourself, for stillness and self-care, is not only beneficial, it’s essential.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents a relationship or an area of your life that you vow to give more attention to during the next lunar cycle.

Sunday

On Sunday, the moon is in the sign of Virgo.

Virgo, commonly associated with meticulousness, practicality, and a detail-oriented nature, also possesses a deep emotional sensitivity to the environment, linked to its role as a healer and caregiver.

The moon in Virgo invites you to tap into your inner healer. It’s a good time to nurture not just your body, but also your spirit.

Virgo, often associated with health and meticulous care, offers a deeper connection to your own innate healing abilities. Everyone has an inner healer—a part of themselves that instinctively knows what they need to thrive, whether it’s physical health, emotional balance, or spiritual growth.

What do you imagine your inner healer to look or feel like?

What wisdom does your inner healer have for you today?

Listen closely to your body and mind. Pay attention to what makes you feel energized or drained, what causes discomfort, and what brings relief. This attentiveness is how you tune in to your inner healer. The insights you gain can guide you to make changes that align more closely with your overall well-being.

Acknowledge that healing is not always linear and that being patient with yourself is part of the process. Remember, your inner healer is wise and knows the path to balance and health. Trust in this inner guidance and allow it to lead you towards healing that is both deep and sustaining. This connection to your inner healer can empower you to make healthier choices and live a life more aligned with what makes you feel strong and vibrant.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your inner healer.

with love,
