Art Journal with the Moon December 12-18 2022

Art Journal with the Moon for December 12-18, 2022

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Few Thoughts Before We Get Started

For me, this time of year is a busy one for magic making. It wasn’t always like this but many years ago I created my first magical journal pages and the vision I set for my family came true and I was hooked! Planning and visioning the year ahead became a priority on my December and January “To Do” list.

The vision that came true was about my husband and I moving into our forever home. I had never had a forever home before – even as a child. I was constantly living in temporary homes. The year I became obsessed with changing this was the year I had unexpectedly landed in the same small mobile home my husband and I had lived in during the early years of our marriage.

When we first lived in that mobile home, it was because we didn’t have the money for a down payment for a house but my parents lived on a farm just outside of the city and there was room for us to live in a mobile home so we chose that option. I, unfortunately, had a thing about mobile homes without consciously being aware that they triggered unsettled feelings for me.

In my childhood, we lived in many temporary homes. My parents are inventors, entrepreneurs, farmers and all around dream makers so we were constantly in flux. We moved around a lot and before they could build their dream home they would build garages that they cleverly turned into homes. These homes were beautiful by all accounts but for some reason, I never felt stable in them. They never helped me to feel rooted.

From being born with so many planets in air signs to disassociating at a very young age to being an intuitive who can visit liminal space instantly, I need a home that helps root me! My body and my emotional well-being struggle so much when I don’t have a strong, steady dependable anchor like a house rooted with a foundation in the earth.

Finding myself back in our old mobile home was the last thing I wanted. I was devastated and heart-broken. The December I sat with my art journal and visualized a different home for my family I was desperate. I wrote a list and drew images to represent what I wanted to call into our lives. I remember asking my husband to dream it up with me and include all the things he wanted too. He wanted to live in a secluded forest. I said yes to the forest but I needed other people around too. We wanted it close to a city but far away enough for us to feel like we lived in a small town. I wanted to be surrounded by magical, creative people. It was a pretty specific list and I wasn’t confident it was possible but, like my parents, I’m a dreamer so I knew there was no harm in dreaming.

I put the list away and honestly, completely forgot about it until that spring when we visited my brother-in-law and his family. My brother-in-law lived in a big city but we took a drive out to a nearby small town near the mountains. As we enjoyed the fresh air and cozy rustic feel of the town, we passed a local realtor’s window and my husband called me over to see the pictures of the houses for sale hanging in the window. He whispered in my ear, “Dana, I think we could afford this.”

Within a couple months, we had sold our place, packed our things and moved! It has been a dream come true every since. I’ve been waiting for the time when the loveliness and awe wear off and it starts to feel common but it just hasn’t been the case and we’ve been here for almost ten years now. It wasn’t until I drove into this tiny town nestled in the forest to meet the realtor that I remembered the journal pages I created in December calling our forever home into our lives. I couldn’t believe it worked. We did it and within mere months of dreaming.

I’ve been working with moon magic and my art journal in December and January ever since (well truth be known, I often start in October). I’ve added a few spiritual practices every year and sometimes taken some away. The plans and visions I make don’t always come true of course, I’m not a genie, but I ALWAYS feel clearer and eventually, most of it does find a way into my life in one way or another.

I started sharing my planning and visioning for the year ahead with other people. I held classes in my studio and online. We created magical vision boards in the shape of angels or the moon to hold our new year intentions. Because understanding what the moon is doing at any given time is really helpful for business planning and marketing, I also created some art courses for planning and visioning the year ahead specifically for entrepreneurs.

This year I decided to bring it all together and offer it in one megapalooza kind of online course. It’s called ART JOURNAL WITH THE MOON TO PLAN AND VISION THE YEAR AHEAD and you can learn more about it here.

I’m sharing so much goodness in this one course PLUS when you join, you have access for the lifetime of the course. That means, every December and January, when I update the content and talk about the moon for the year ahead (both for your business and/or your personal life), you can just login and access that information at no extra cost.

This year the course is at its lowest price it will ever be AND it even has early bird pricing until Friday, December 23rd so if you’re interested, sign up now. Access to the course is available on January 7th. It’s going to be very much worth it. Plus who knows what magic it will help you create in your art journal and in your life for 2023.

Monday

Today the moon is in the disseminating phase.

Today the moon is in the disseminating phase. This phase is when the moon is just starting to become smaller.  It is a time to rest, relax and rejuvenate and move inward and focus on self.  This isn’t a time to start anything new. It’s a time to reflect. It’s a great time for expressing your devotion to Spirit and for presenting offerings to your Divine helpers, your ancestors or the Earth. It’s also a great time to share the wisdom and knowledge you’ve harvested. There’s a generous or giving back quality to the waning phases of the moon. We’re taking note of the bounty we received as the moon was growing in power and feeling grateful and wanting to share what we learned or received with the people we love and care about or with a greater community we feel connected to.

How do you feel acknowledging your wisdom?

Do you see yourself as a teacher?

Do you acknowledge your accomplishments and celebrate what you’ve learned?

Take a moment to think about the last time you acknowledged one of your accomplishments.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents something you’ve learned since the last new moon.

Tuesday

The moon is void of course for most of the day in the mountain time zone.

This sometimes happens when the moon is moving from one zodiac sign to another or when it’s not making any aspects with other planets – I think of it as though the moon is just hanging around alone and in the in-between space – no longer where it was but not yet where it will be. The moon likes reflecting energy down to us but when it’s void of course there’s nothing substantial for it to reflect so its reflecting that emptiness back to us.

When the moon is void of course it is a good time to rest and relax and look inward. If you can prevent it, don’t start anything new or sign anything important when the moon is void of course since the energy it carries speaks of not having the momentum to carry it through to the end or in other words, whatever you start when the moon is void of course won’t go anywhere or won’t go where you thought it would.

It is a good time, however, to connect with your subconscious mind and your intuition.

Let yourself be curious for a moment and consider if you have any parts who are uncomfortable with emptiness or the unknown.

Do you have parts that like to take control and feel worried when it’s time to surrender and trust?

Think about a situation in your life right now where it would be great to surrender to the Divine and trust you will be taken care of.

In your art journal, create a page that represents what you would like to surrender to the Divine today.

Wednesday

The moon moves into the sign of Virgo today. Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury so it’s carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well.

Virgo energy is earthy energy that is mutable and versatile. It supports you in being efficient and organized. It wants to help you find the most effective way of doing things. It brings practicality, attention to detail, a love of quality and precision but it can cause you to get lost in the details.

When the moon is in Virgo, it’s the perfect time for review and adjustments.

Do you like what you’ve been creating in your life lately?

You’re not in control of creating everything you experience in your life but of the things you do have control over, which situations and experiences that you’ve been creating do you enjoy and which situations and experiences have you not been enjoying?

If you don’t like what you’re creating, what adjustments can you make?

In your art journal, create an image that represents an adjustment you’d like to make in your life this month.

Thursday

The moon is busy today. It’s in a lot of relationships with other planets, as you can see by the image of the moon this week at the top of this post but I want to focus on the fact it is in a square, or in other words, a tense relationship with the planet Mars today.

The tension created by the square between the moon and Mars can cause you to feel impatient, short-tempered and blunt or harsh. It can also cause you to project your pain onto other people, take things personally or live from what Eckart Tolle refers to as your pain body. If someone triggers you emotionally today, it might be helpful to get curious, look within and explore if something deeper is at play.

Instead of reacting or saying something you don’t really mean or directing your emotions to someone that isn’t actually at the root of the problem, it’s a great day to instead address the inner wound and meet the emotional need that is surfacing through the other person’s behavior.

In your art journal, create an image that explores an emotional trigger you’ve experienced in the past but that you now feel ready to release.

Friday

The moon is in a happy relationship with Pluto today.

The moon is the queen of the night. She wants to illuminate the darkness, bring about change, be a mirror to reflect us back to ourselves and awaken our receptive and intuitive powers. She represents your body and emotions and reminds you that life is an ever-changing cycle of birth, death, decay and rebirth. She wants to bring kindness, nurturing, novelty and adaptability. She also wants to improve your relationship with your emotions, your body and your intuition.

Pluto wants to illuminate what is hidden in your subconscious realm to help you transform. It can bring endings, new beginnings, deep spiritual growth and rebirth. With Pluto’s energy influencing us, its helpful to face your shadows and your inner darkness – and hopefully you can do that with compassion.

With this happy relationship Pluto is having with the moon expect your sensitivities to deepen, your creative gifts to flourish, your imagination to be expanded and your intuition to be open and receptive. Communication with the realms of Spirit and your ancestors is easier in this energy. It’s a good time to clear ancestral beliefs that no longer serve you or express gratitude to your spirit guides and angels for all the support you receive – seen and unseen.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that expresses gratitude to spirit guides or angels.
