Art Journal with the Moon September 5-11 2022

Art Journal with the Moon September 5-11, 2022

This is a summary of the moon’s energy for the upcoming week and the inner work and magic you can do in your art journal to make the most of the opportunities the cosmos is gifting us with.

Every week the emotional and magical opportunities the moon is sending you are different because the energy she is drawing down from the planets and stars changes moment to moment. Planets and stars and moon phases and moon signs each carry their own unique energy .This is my weekly update (Mon-Fri) of the moon’s comings and goings to support you in aligning with her energy.

Get your art journal or a scrap of paper you see lying around, your art supplies or those pencil crayons you have hidden away somewhere and have fun. Spend 10 – 20 minutes focusing on the themes the moon is supporting you to explore that day while you play with colors and shapes and watch what happens over time.

It’s amazing what a little consistent creative time can do.

A Summary

It’s a full moon in Pisces this week.

The sun is currently in the sign of Virgo – which, if you remember, is where the new moon was when you made your new moon intentions.

At the time of the new moon, I asked you to consider the area of your life the sign of Virgo was affecting. If you can’t remember what area of your life the new moon was influencing according to your rising sign, look back at the blog post for the week of August 22 – 28, 2022 or the email I sent that week if you’re on my mailing list.

The new moon was in Virgo so you set your new moon intentions in Virgo energy but the full moon is in Pisces so we can now add that energy to your lunar magic as well.

At the new moon, Virgo  helped bring us back to routines. It’s a grounding energy that wants to help us feel calm and in touch with our bodies. It’s also great energy for assessing what needs changing in your life so you can live with more efficiency and ease. Virgo energy wants to help you organize your life, adjust your goals and priorities and figure out where you need to make improvements or where you need to throw out the old plan altogether and start fresh.

A new season is coming and with it, perhaps a new focus or goal or just a refinement because you now understand yourself better or maybe you find your values have changed and you want your new moon goals to reflect that.

The upcoming full moon is in Pisces.

Pisces energy wants to help you focus on your dreams, the bigger picture, your deep longings and your spirituality. Pisces energy reminds you to drop down to your heart and listen. It’s not logical or concerned as much with your thinking. If you try to think your way through the full moon, you’ll most likely feel hazy or confused but if you FEEL your way through the full moon, things will probably start to flow.

As I mentioned last week, the polarity of the sun and moon during this full moon is having us look at balancing our desire to take care of the details, our health, order and our daily routines (Virgo) with our higher aspirations, our spirituality, disorder and the infinite (Pisces).
When you’re honest with yourself and you drop into your feeling space, what do you deeply desire? Even if it isn’t logical or rational, allow yourself to feel into what it is you truly want.

Try not to THINK what the answer is. Try to FEEL what the answer is. What is it you truly want? Are you connected enough to your emotions to know who you really are and what you truly want?

As my astrology mentor Kelly Surtees mentioned about Pisces energy, it’s helpful to remember how powerful the element of water is. Pisces is a water sign. She explained how water can change landscapes – even solid, rocky landscapes. Just as water shapes rock, your emotions can change the landscape of your life.

Let’s use this Pisces full moon energy to release what is not in alignment with your new moon intentions and amplify your goals and dreams.

AMPLIFY

The moon is in her full glory and power this week. What does it look and feel like in your life when you are in your full glory and power? How do you act and what choices do you make in relation to your goals or new moon intentions when you are in your full glory and power?

RELEASE

When you imagine being in your full glory and power, which emotions will help you reach your goal or help your new moon intentions manifest and which emotions will cause your energy to start moving in the opposite direction of your dreams?
When you consider this, don’t think it means you have to suppress, dismiss, deny, ignore, bury, bully or reject challenging emotions. That is not effective at all and so unhealthy.

Instead, in ritual, those are the emotions to release into the earth to be tended to and transformed. In your everyday life, when those emotions surface, its time to get curious.

Ask your inner parts to show you the emotional needs they carry that have not been acknowledged or met yet then LISTEN and meet your own emotional needs! Care for your parts in the kind, patient, understanding and compassionate way they’ve been longing to be cared for.
For instance, when I’m feeling anxious or stressed, I know that is energy that is moving in the opposite direction of my goal. At the full moon, I will perform my full moon ritual, move into liminal space and create a page in my art journal that invites my spirit guides and angels to help me transform the anxious energy and all the memories and beliefs connected to it, including ancestral, generational and past life memories and beliefs. In my everyday life, I will be mindful of when I’m feeling anxious or stressed and I’ll stop and tend to my emotional needs until my body feels relaxed, loose, open and receptive again. That is the inner work I do in conjunction with my magic.

As you may know, I happen to use the MAP Method because it allows me to surrender my inner work to my superconscious mind who is much more effective at tending to my inner parts than I am but when I need to, I also do my own loose versions of somatic therapy and IFS work because connecting to my body and my inner parts works wonders for well for me as well (and truth be told, I often bring all three methods together). It doesn’t matter what methods you use. What matters is you don’t suppress, dismiss, deny, ignore, bury, bully or reject your challenging emotions as you move towards your goals or as you move towards manifesting your new moon intentions.

I want you to keep this in mind this week as we move towards the full moon energy which arrives on Saturday.

Monday

Only half the moon seems to be lit up in the night sky during this moon phase. This is the phase in the creation cycle where there is a tendency to give up or doubt the process. Challenges or obstacles may come between you and your goals and your job is to remain committed despite whatever gets in the way. This is the time to observe your self-talk and heal whatever shadows surface. Make sure you are taking actions and making decisions from your Spirit and your inner wisdom rather than listening to your insecurities and doubt.

Emotional and spiritual themes you can explore in your art journal for the first quarter moon include themes around commitment, doubt, insecurities, body image, self-esteem, your inner critic, your passion, purpose and bigger reasons for being.

Take a moment to think about a goal that is really important to you. Imagine what it will be like when you reach that goal?

What changes, big or small, will happen in your life when you reach that goal?

What will it feel like to reach that goal?

What choice can you make this week to help you achieve that goal?

In your art journal, revisit your new moon intentions.

For those of you who have joined the Moon Mapping Year and receive the MAP Your Mornings podcast, on Monday morning we work with the first quarter moon phase and the energy of the moon in the sign of Capricorn as well as the tense relationship the moon is having with Jupiter and Mercury.

Venus is on the move so the other energy from the cosmos we’re going to use to help your subconscious mind tend to your lost or young parts Venus moving into the sign of Virgo.

Tuesday

Today the moon is in the gibbous phase. This moon phase is when the moon seems almost full. In the creation process, it’s a great time to clear any trapped emotions or energy so that all parts of you, even the hidden wounded subconscious parts, are on board with your goals. Some of those blocks include ancestral memories stored in your body, past life memories or energy and emotions you unconsciously absorbed from other people. You are most likely carrying subconscious beliefs or stories that are working against you so it is helpful to spend time in your art journal tending to those.

Themes you can explore in your art journal for the gibbous moon include, clearing ancestral memories, your family tree, past life memories, co-dependency, the heart chakra and daily habits and routines.

In my art rituals, this is the time when I’m thinking about whether or not my everyday life supports my New Moon intentions.

What about your everyday life can be shifted or changed to better support the direction you want to move forward in?

Are there routines or habits you can begin that will support your dreams and goals?

In your art journal, explore a routine you can commit to that will move you forward in the direction of your dreams.

If you have joined the Moon Mapping Year and receive the MAP Your Mornings podcast, on Tuesday morning we work with the energy of the moon in the gibbous moon phase and in the sign of Capricorn. We also tend to the moon being void of course and the energy of the sign of Aquarius where the moon settles in for the rest of the day. We tend to that moon phase and sign energy as well as the happy relationship the moon is having with Uranus and the intense relationship it is having with Pluto.

The other energy we tend to is the energy of Venus moving into the sign of Virgo.

Wednesday

The moon is in the air sign of Aquarius today. Aquarius is ruled by the planet Saturn so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well today.

Aquarius is fixed air sign so it brings that energy of fluidity and the ability to change but it also know how to be constant, dependable and able to persevere.

Aquarius energy likes to act its own way and distance itself from groups. It is air energy so the focus tend to be on the intellect and the mind but it can be stubborn but if you’re having a hard time being your own person, the moon in Aquarius can help you love and accept the quirky, different and unique things about yourself.

Imagine you loved every bit of yourself and knew that everything that made you different was deeply on purpose and ultimately helpful to everyone you are connect with today.

Imagine you are perfect just as you are – exactly where you are right now in your life with the exact perfect personality, habits and ways of being. Imagine nothing about you has to change for you to reach your goals.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage how it feels to believe you can reach your goals just as you are now.

If you have joined the Moon Mapping Year and receive the MAP Your Mornings podcast, on Wednesday morning the moon is in the gibbous moon phase and in the sign of Aquarius. We tend to that moon phase and sign energy as well as the happy relationships the moon is having with Mercury and Mars.

The other energy we tend for one last time is the energy of Venus moving into the sign of Virgo.

Thursday

The moon is void of course for pretty much the entire day.

This sometimes happens when the moon is moving from one zodiac sign to another or when it’s not making any aspects with other planets – I think of it as though the moon is just hanging around alone and in the in-between space – no longer where it was but not yet where it will be. The moon likes reflecting energy down to us but when it’s void of course there’s nothing substantial for it to reflect so its reflecting that emptiness back to us.

When the moon is void of course it is a good time to rest and relax and look inward. If you can prevent it, don’t start anything new or sign anything important when the moon is void of course since the energy it carries speaks of not having the momentum to carry it through to the end or in other words, whatever you start when the moon is void of course won’t go anywhere or won’t go where you thought it would.

It is a good time, however, to connect with your subconscious mind and your intuition.

Let yourself be curious for a moment and consider if you have any parts who are uncomfortable with emptiness or the unknown.

Do you have parts that like to take control and feel worried when it’s time to surrender and trust?

Think about a situation in your life right now where it would be great to surrender to the Divine and trust you will be taken care of.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage what surrendering a troubling situation to the Divine feels like to you.

If you have joined the Moon Mapping Year and receive the MAP Your Mornings podcast, on Thursday morning we work with the MAP Method and ask your subconscious mind to invite all your inner parts to do the emotional and spiritual work they need to clear anything you need tended to around the moon being in the gibbous phase and the sign of Aquarius.

We also tend to the energy of the moon being void of course for most of the day. We then tend to the energy of the moon being in the sign of Pisces which it moves into later in the evening in the mountain time zone. We end our episode by tending to the tense relationship the moon is having with Uranus and the intense relationship it is having with Saturn.

Friday

Later in the day the moon moves into the sign of Pisces which is where it will be for the full moon on Saturday.

Pisces is a mutable water sign. Pisces energy is calm and highly receptive. It can help you absorb more information from the environment and from other people. This is great when the energy you are absorbing is helpful, nurturing and positive but its not so great when the energy that surrounds you is heavy, intense, negative or unhealthy.

When the moon is in Pisces it can highlight our highly sensitive natures, our compassion and our ability to care for others. It can also help us tune into and honor our creativity but it can also bring flightiness, fickleness or indecision.

In your art journal, celebrate your creativity.

If you have joined the Moon Mapping Year and receive the MAP Your Mornings podcast, on Friday morning, the moon is still in the gibbous phase and in the sign of Pisces. We tend to that moon phase and sign energy as well as the opposing relationship it is having with Venus and the tense relationship it is having with Mars.

The other energy in the cosmos we tend to is the energy of Mercury stationing retrograde in the sign of Libra.

Saturday

It’s a Pisces full moon today.

I like to think of the new and full moon in a lunar cycle dancing between two zodiac signs. When it’s a new moon, the moon is between the sun and the earth so the moon and the sun are in the same constellation of stars as the sun or, in other words, the same zodiac sign as the sun. During a full moon, the moon is on the opposite side of the earth from the sun so it’s in the constellation of stars (zodiac sign) that is across from where the sun is.

If you would like to see what I’m talking about in action, you might enjoy this moon phase refresher on YouTube.

For now, imagine the Virgo new moon intentions you made are shining light onto this Pisces full moon and making it big and bright.

To work with the moon in your art journal the same way I do, you need to know your rising sign.

If you don’t know your rising sign (its different than your sun or moon sign), then you can read more about it here and you can calculate what it is here.

According to your rising sign, the full moon is activating a different area of your life than the new moon was but it’s very helpful to imagine those two areas of your life supporting each other to help you manifest your new moon intentions so ask yourself how the area of your life that the full moon is activating now is supporting the new moon intentions you made a couple weeks ago.

For me, because the sign of Virgo is in the 4th house of my birth chart, I was thinking about my money goal and asking myself what kind of new moon intentions I could make around the areas of my life that had to do with my home, my parents, my childhood or my ancestors.

Now, at the full moon, because the sign of Pisces is in my 10th house, I have the opportunity to consider what I can release from my career, my reputation or my public self to help my new moon intentions become a reality.

For a year, because I’m working with the moon in my art journal to reach my goal, I’m going to focus on the same money goal but each time a new lunar cycle comes around, I will consider my money goal from different angles and perspectives depending on what zodiac sign the moon is in at the time and what house that zodiac sign rules in my birth chart.

Imagine the depth, clarity, clearing and amplifying I will do after cycling through all the new and full moons in the zodiac. I will have considered my goal from all the 12 houses in my chart, or in other words, all the different areas of my life from career to childhood and ancestors to health and spirit and every other nook and cranny of my life.

I will have also considered my goal from the energy of all 12 zodiac signs. That’s a lot of magic and clearing on one goal but that’s exactly what I want. To get specific, stay committed and go deep with one goal until it becomes a reality.

If you’re joining me with your own goal or if you simply want to use this Pisces full moon energy in a way that is more specific to YOU, fill in the blanks in the following sentence:

I have the opportunity to release and let go of fears and limiting beliefs that are related to ______________________________ (the area of life the full moon is highlighting for you based on your rising sign. Look below for the answer) in order to support the new moon intentions I set around ______________________________________________ (the area of life your new moon intentions were highlighting based on your rising sign which I explained in this blog post).

If your rising sign is in the sign of Aries, then the full moon is inviting you to release and let go of something around your subconscious mind or deep inner shadow work. At the new moon, you set intentions around your routines, work, pets or wellness so bring those two areas of your life together at the full moon and ask yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around my subconscious mind or inner shadows in order to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my routines, work, pets or wellness?”

For Virgo people, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something to do with your close, intimate relationships or partnerships. At the new moon, you set intentions around your identity, body, appearance or your spirit so bring these two areas of your life together during the full moon by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around my marriage, intimate relationships or partnerships to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my body, spirit, appearance or identity?”

If you rising sign is in the sign of Libra, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something around your routines, work, pets or wellness. At the new moon, you set intentions around your subconscious mind or shadow work so bring those two areas of your life together during the full moon by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around my routines, work, pets or wellness to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my subconscious mind or deep inner shadow work?”

For Scorpio people, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something to do with your children, hobbies, pleasures or creativity. At the new moon your set intentions around friendships, community or your hopes and wishes so bring those two areas of your life together during the full moon by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear and release around my children, hobbies, pleasures or creativity in order to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my friendships, community or hopes and wishes?”

For Sagittarius people, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something to do with family, your ancestors or your home and living situation. At the new moon you set your intentions around career, reputation or ideas of success so bring those two areas of your life together by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear and release around my family, ancestors, home or living situation in order to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my career, reputation or ideas of success?”

If your rising sign is in the sign of Capricorn, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something to do with learning, communication, siblings, the goddess or earth-based rituals. At the new moon you set intentions around your faith, spiritual practices, long-distance travel or your future success so bring those two areas of your life together by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around learning, communication, my siblings, my relationship with the goddess or earth-based rituals in order to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my faith, spiritual practices, long-distance travel or future success?”

For Aquarius rising sign people, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something in regards to money, income or your livelihood. At the new moon, you set intentions around your psyche, debt or taxes so bring those two areas of your life together by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around money, income or my livelihood in order to support my intentions around my psyche, debt or taxes?”

Finally, for those of you with Pisces as your rising sign, the full moon is inviting you to release or let go of something in regards to your identity, body, appearance or your spirit. At the new moon, you set intentions around your marriage or close intimate relationships or partnerships so bring those two areas of your life together by asking yourself, “What do I need to clear or release around my identity, body, appearance or spirit in order to support the intentions I made at the new moon for my marriage, close intimate relationship or partnership?”
