Art Journal with the Moon: Themes and Prompts for February 24-March 2, 2025
In this post, I share a summary of the moon for the week of February 24-March 2, 2025 as it moves through the zodiac and interacts with the planets. I also invite you to work with Pisces new moon to plant seeds of intention for your next big adventure.
The Moon This Week
This week we greet the new moon in Pisces.
This is another great new moon to work with in your art journal because there’s beautiful optimistic, expansive energy to support you and your dreams.
Pisces is a water sign ruled by Jupiter, the planet of wisdom, expansion, and higher understanding. When the moon finds itself in this tender, dreamy sign, it’s like being wrapped in a blanket of possibility—one that encourages you to trust your inner knowing and allow your heart to lead the way.
What makes this new moon even more powerful is its relationship with Jupiter. Jupiter is currently in Gemini, bringing an optimistic, curious energy to the table. This means your mind is more open to fresh ideas, new perspectives, and exciting possibilities for growth.
It’s a perfect time to wonder:
What would my life be like if I made a change?
What expansive shift would make my life feel more aligned and fulfilling?
Is there something new calling me?
Is there something new I want to learn, experience, or create?
What adventure is calling my spirit right now?
Your art journal is a perfect place to explore these questions under this moon. Let yourself dream without limits. Doodle, write, paint, or collage your visions. Jupiter’s influence in Gemini encourages playful exploration, so don’t worry about having clear answers or a perfect plan—this is about opening doors in your mind and heart and seeing where they lead.
What Gives Your Life Meaning
In times that feel unpredictable and turbulent, this new moon also offers a gentle reminder to come back to what matters most to you.
What are your core values?
What kind of life do you want to create for yourself and your community?
It’s easy to get swept up in the chaos of the world, but Pisces and Jupiter together remind us that what matters to YOU most and what gives your life meaning is where your attention and focus should be. Use this moon’s energy to ground yourself in your values and explore the steps you can take to live more in alignment with what is most important and meaningful to you.
Ask yourself:
What choices do I need to make to become the person I want to be in these times?
What truly matters to me, and how can I shape my life to reflect that?
Let your intuition guide you, and trust that the answers will come—not always as loud revelations, but as gentle whispers, subtle nudges, and moments of clarity as you create, dream, and reflect.
This new moon is a gift, reminding you that even in uncertain times, you have the power to shape your path, one wise step at a time.
If you want more step-by-step instructions to play with this new moon in your art journal, I invite you to join me in the creative online course I created specifically for this moon.

Monday
The week kicks off with the balsamic moon moving into the sign of Capricorn in the late evening but having a lot of happy relationship with other planets during the day while it is in the sign of Capricorn on Monday.
The balsamic moon in Capricorn brings a powerful moment of reflection and quiet preparation before the upcoming new moon. This moon phase is all about release, rest, and listening deeply to what your heart and spirit are asking of you. What makes this particular balsamic moon so interesting is how it’s having happy relationships with several planets, creating an energy that feels both supportive and clarifying.
The day begins with the moon opposite Mars, which has just stationed direct after a long period of retrograde. This shift is positive—it’s like the gears of life finally catching and moving forward again. But with the moon in opposition, there’s a bit of tension here. You might feel the push to get moving, to act quickly or decisively, but Capricorn’s steady energy reminds you that slow, intentional steps are just as powerful. Thoughtful action – those are the words for the day.
The rest of the moon’s connections throughout the day bring a beautiful flow. The happy relationship to Mercury supports clear thinking and communication, making it a great time to reflect, or have meaningful conversations with yourself in your art journal.
What thoughts or patterns are ready to be released?
What clarity is emerging as you prepare for a new beginning?
Next, the moon has a happy relationship with Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler, adding a stabilizing energy. This is where you can get practical.
What do you want to put to rest before the new moon?
What loose ends do you want to ties up?
Have fun doing a simple ritual of release in your art journal or make a list of what you’re ready to leave behind.
As the moon trines Uranus, there’s a spark of insight and innovation. You might suddenly see a situation in a new light or feel inspired to try something different.
Finally, the moon sextiles Neptune, wrapping the day in a soft, dreamy glow. This is a beautiful time for letting your intuition take the lead. If you’re playing in your art journal in the evening, remember it’s less about what you create and more about how you feel while creating.
Overall, this balsamic moon on Monday is a day for quiet progress—tying up loose ends, reflecting on what’s been learned, and softening into the changes you’re ready to make come the new moon on Thursday.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents what you want to release before the new moon.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, the balsamic moon is in the sign of Aquarius.
The balsamic moon in Aquarius invites you to slow down, turn inward, and reflect on your place within the communities you care about. This moon phase is all about release—letting go of what no longer serves you so you can step into the new moon with a clear heart and mind. Aquarius, ruled by Saturn and traditionally associated with the water bearer, teaches us about holding space for the collective while staying true to ourselves.
It’s a reminder that community thrives when each person shows up as their authentic self, contributing their unique gifts while supporting the whole.
In times that feel turbulent, unpredictable, and shaky, Aquarius energy reminds us that connection matters more than ever. It’s easy to feel isolated when the world feels unstable, but Aquarius teaches us that community is built not on perfection, but on care, shared values, and showing up for one another, even in small ways. Under this moon, take some time in your art journal to explore what you might need to release within yourself to show up more fully for the communities you’re part of.
What insecurities, fears, biases, or anxieties hold you back?
Are there emotional wounds that make it hard for you to trust others or feel safe in community?
It’s not about pushing those feelings aside but tending to them with compassion so they don’t stand in the way of connection.
In your art journal, try creating a page that represents the kind of community you long for. What does it look and feel like? What qualities does it have? As you create, reflect on the role you’d love to play in that kind of space. How can you contribute in a way that feels sustainable and authentic for you? Maybe it’s through offering your time, your skills, or simply your presence. Small acts—like checking in on a friend, sharing resources, or offering encouragement—can make a huge difference.
Aquarius energy reminds us that everyone has a role to play, and it’s okay if yours looks different from someone else’s. The most important thing is showing up in a way that aligns with your values and capacity. As you journal, ask yourself:
What do I need to release to be more present for my community?
How can I show up in a way that feels true to who I am?
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents how you want to show up for community.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, the balsamic moon is void of course for most of the afternoon and evening.
This creates a powerful pause before tomorrow’s new moon. It’s like the moon is floating in-between conversations, untethered and wandering. This is not a time for starting anything new or making big decisions. Instead, it’s a moment to slow down, rest, and turn inward.
With the moon already in its dark balsamic phase, this void of course period deepens the energy of stillness and reflection. It’s the perfect time to be gentle with yourself, tie up loose ends, and let go of any lingering thoughts, worries, or emotions you don’t want to carry into the new lunar cycle. In your art journal, you might want to create a page that feels soft, dreamy, and open-ended. Let your intuition guide you—scribble, paint, or collage without a plan. Think of it as clearing space, both on the page and in your heart, for the new beginnings that are just around the corner.
Ask yourself:
What do I need to release so I can step into the new moon feeling lighter and more aligned?
What thoughts, habits, or emotional patterns can I set down, even just for today?
This is your invitation to rest, reflect, and trust that the stillness has its own quiet magic. There’s nothing to do, nothing to fix—just be present with yourself and the wisdom that rises when you slow down.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image without a plan. Just slow down and go with the flow and see what arises.
Thursday
With the new moon being in the sign of Pisces, Thursday brings an expansive and optimistic energy.
It’s time to dream about the life you’re creating. Pisces is a water sign ruled by Jupiter, the planet of wisdom, expansion, and higher understanding. It encourages you to trust your inner knowing and let your heart lead the way.
What makes this new moon even more powerful is its relationship with Jupiter. Jupiter is currently in Gemini, bringing an optimistic, curious energy that opens your mind to fresh ideas and new perspectives. This combination of Pisces and Jupiter creates the perfect environment for dreaming big, not just in a wishful way, but in a way that invites you to think about how your dreams can become reality. Jupiter in Gemini encourages playful exploration, so you don’t need clear answers or a perfect plan. Instead, let yourself wonder:
- What would my life be like if I made a change?
- What expansive shift would bring more joy, fulfillment, or peace?
- Is there something new calling me—something I want to learn, experience, or create?
- What adventure is quietly waiting for me to say yes?
Your art journal is the perfect place to explore these questions under this moon. Doodle, write, paint, or collage without judgment. Let your imagination flow, and trust that the process itself will spark clarity and insight. This is about opening doors in your mind and heart and seeing where they lead. Your art doesn’t have to look good – it’s about the process and the magic that comes from you being with yourself and the moon.
Let your intuition guide you, and trust that the answers will come—not always as loud revelations, but as gentle whispers, subtle nudges, and moments of clarity as you create, dream, and reflect.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your new moon intentions.
Friday
On Friday, the moon is still in the new moon phase and in the sign of Pisces. This means there’s still time to work with the new moon in Pisces energy in your art journal.
New moons are all about fresh starts, planting seeds of intention, and dreaming about what you want to create in your life.
Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of wisdom and expansion, and right now, Jupiter is in Gemini, adding an extra layer of curiosity and optimism. This energy encourages you to explore new ideas and wonder:
What would my life be like if I made a change?
What new adventure is calling my spirit?
What shift would make me feel more aligned and fulfilled?
In your art journal, you can play with these questions. Doodle, paint, or write about the kind of life you’d love to create. Don’t worry about having a perfect plan—this is about opening doors in your mind and heart and seeing where they lead. Pisces energy reminds you that dreams start small, like seeds planted in rich soil, and they grow with time, care, and belief.
This is also a beautiful moment to come back to your core values. In times that feel uncertain, it’s grounding to remember what gives your life meaning. Ask yourself:
What choices do I need to make to become the person I want to be?
What truly matters to me, and how can I shape my life to reflect that?
Use this soft, dreamy moon energy to get clear on what you want to grow in the coming weeks and months. The intentions you set now, even if they feel small or uncertain, have the power to blossom into something beautiful. Trust your intuition, let your creativity lead the way, and enjoy this magical window for new beginnings.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your new moon intentions
Saturday
On Saturday, the moon is in the sign of Aries.
Aries is ruled by the planet Mars so the moon is carrying a little of that planet’s energy as well.
In its most helpful form, Aries supports you in setting healthy boundaries, knowing who you really are and feeling connected to your inner power.
Aries is action, quick responses and impulses. It values action, leadership and assertiveness. When the moon is in the sign of Aries as it is today, it can bring abrupt energy that is blunt and harsh – maybe even sometimes aggressive but it also helps to light a spark in your spirit and connect you to your passion and enthusiasm.
Think about your inner power.
Your inner power refers to the deep, innate strength and resilience that every individual possesses. It’s the driving force that helps you overcome challenges, remain steadfast in the face of adversity, and pursue your passions and dreams. It’s rooted in your beliefs, values, and experiences.
If you struggle to feel and connect with your inner power, you are not alone. Many factors can get in the way of your connection to your inner power. On a personal level, experiences such as persistent criticism, trauma, or struggles with mental health can make you doubt your self-worth and capabilities.
In your childhood, a lack of emotional support, or unresolved dynamics can suppress your sense of autonomy and erode your confidence. Experiencing traumatic events can deeply affect your self-perception and sense of control.
When you zoom out to society, you see even more layers of complexity. Discrimination and prejudice based on attributes like race, gender, ability or sexuality can silence voices and diminish self-worth. The challenges of growing up in a lower socioeconomic class, faced with societal structures that often disproportionately favor the wealthy, can also breed feelings of powerlessness and further contribute to feelings of marginalization.
These overlapping layers of experiences can act as barriers to recognizing and harnessing your inner power.
By actively unlearning negative self-perceptions and seeking affirming communities or support, you can begin to reconnect with your innate strength and potential but without those big systems changing, there is only so much you can do on your own – so don’t put yourself down or blame yourself if you feel powerless or struggle to connect with your inner power.
Connecting with your inner power is a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance and peeling back layers of doubt, fear, and external influences to reveal your core strength. It’s about recognizing and trusting in your own abilities, intuition, and worth. In your art journal, explore your relationship with your inner power. Ask yourself:
What kind of relationship do you have with your inner power?
When do you feel connected to it?
When do you feel disempowered in your life?
What kind of situations or people help you grow your inner power?
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage images that represents your inner power.
Sunday
On Sunday, the moon is void of course for most of the day.
A void of course moon sometimes happens when the moon is moving from one zodiac sign to another or when it’s not making any aspects with other planets – I think of it as though the moon is just hanging around alone and in the in-between space – no longer where it was but not yet where it will be. The moon likes reflecting energy down to us but when it’s void of course there’s nothing substantial for it to reflect so its reflecting that emptiness back to us.
It’s as if it takes a brief pause, suspending its influence and opening a window of stillness and introspection.
Embrace this pause, take a step back, and reflect. This period is not about making significant decisions or initiating new projects; rather, it’s a time for taking stock, for going inward, and for focusing on self-care and inner peace.
When the moon is void of course, it is a good time to engage in activities that nurture your emotional well-being. This is also an opportune time for self-reflection and introspection, allowing you to connect more deeply with your inner self.
On the flip side, it’s best to avoid initiating new projects, making important decisions, or embarking on significant endeavors during this period. The energy of the void of course moon is not conducive to starting new things; rather, it supports wrapping up loose ends and investing in self-care.
Consider reflecting on these questions during a Void of Course Moon:
What areas of my life require my attention, but I’ve been neglecting?
How can I better care for my emotional well-being?
What loose ends do I need to tie up before moving forward?
The void of course moon invites you to embrace the pause, to indulge in introspection, and to nurture your emotional health. It’s a gentle reminder from the cosmos that in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, taking time for yourself, for stillness and self-care, is not only beneficial—it’s essential.
In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents an area of your life that you’ve been neglecting but want to give more attention to during this new lunar cycle.
