Art Journal with the Moon: Themes and Prompts for March 3-9, 2025

In this post, I share a summary of the moon for the week of March 3-9, 2025 as it moves through the zodiac and interacts with the planets. I also discuss how highly sensitive people can navigate the unstable astrology of March in a way that is kind and gentle on their nervous systems.

The Moon This Week

March is a big month astrologically, and if you’re highly sensitive, you’re probably already feeling it. Plus, the state of the world continues to feel unstable and unpredictable. With the condition of world politics right now plus two planets in retrograde, two powerful eclipses, a major planet moving into a new sign and the energetic shift of a new season, there’s a lot of movement happening in the collective—and in your own body, mind, and emotions. This kind of shifting, changing energy can feel unsettling, unpredictable, or even chaotic, making it even more important to stay present with yourself and give your nervous system the support it needs.

When you’re highly sensitive, you don’t just experience the world—you absorb it. Conversations, emotions and shifts in the collective energy get picked up by your system, whether you realize it or not. If you don’t take the time to attune to what you’re carrying, sort through it, and release what isn’t yours, it builds up inside, leaving you feeling scattered, overstimulated, or anxious without always knowing why.

This month, I want to help you navigate this energy with more awareness, so you feel as grounded, clear, and steady as possible.

This is where your daily art journaling practice with the moon is going to be a powerful tool. It gives you a way to process everything you’re picking up, organize your emotions, and release what isn’t serving you. You can use your journal as a space to check in, clear out what feels unsettled, and realign with what truly matters to you.

In this blog, we’ll explore the astrology of March, how to work with its energy in your art journal, and simple ways to support your nervous system through all the movement and change.

Your Highly Sensitive Nature

Let’s start by talking about your nervous system and the unique way it navigates the world.

Being highly sensitive means that you experience the world in a deeper, more intense way than most people. It’s not just about having strong emotions—it’s about how your nervous system processes everything around you. When you have a highly sensitive nervous system, you take in more information, energy, and emotions from your surroundings. This can include the mood of a room, the emotions of the people around you, the collective energy of the world, and even subtle shifts in nature and astrology. You don’t just notice these things—you absorb them.

Your nervous system, which is designed to help you navigate the world, can sometimes struggle to process all of this input, especially when there’s a lot of shifting, changing energy happening. When you don’t take the time to attune to what you’re absorbing and sort through it, everything you take in gets tangled together, creating internal disorganization. This can leave you feeling overstimulated, anxious, drained, ungrounded, or even physically unsettled without always knowing why.

I call this disorganization. I’m probably not using the term as it’s meant to be used in a psychological way but I’m an artist and an intuitive NOT a psychologist and the word fits my experience perfectly so I’m using it in the way I want to. That’s what we artists do.

Disorganization, as I mean it, comes from an overload of (internal or external) energy, emotions, and information that hasn’t been attuned to, processed, sorted, or released.

This can happen both from whatever energy, emotion or information you are picking up in the present moment AND from layers of information you stored from past that have become reawakened and are affecting your nervous system now, in the present moment.

Let me break it down a little more.

Absorbing Energy, Emotions, and Information

You take in more than you realize every single day. Your mind and body are like a sponge, constantly absorbing energy from people, environments, and information—whether it’s a conversation, a news article, a social media post, or even just sensing the emotions of the collective. Some of what you take in feels neutral or even nourishing, but a lot of it—especially when it’s chaotic, unpredictable, or emotionally charged—can flood your system without you even realizing it.

When you don’t take the time to attune to what you’re absorbing, you don’t get the chance to decide what’s useful, what’s yours, what needs to be released, and what actually matters to you. Instead, it all just lingers, cluttering your nervous system, making you feel ungrounded, scattered, spacey, or even anxious and dysregulated. It’s like picking up every book in a library, but instead of shelving them back where they belong one by one, they’re all stacked haphazardly in your arms, falling everywhere, making it impossible to move forward without tripping.

The Layers of the Past

And then there’s the deeper layer—everything your system has absorbed in the past that was never fully processed or sorted. Every experience, emotion, and piece of information that was too much at the time or wasn’t attuned to properly is still there, tucked away in different parts of you. The memories, the feelings, the beliefs you formed around them—all of it is stored because there was never a safe or quiet moment to go back, sort through it, and decide what was actually important to keep.

This is why sometimes a seemingly small event in your day—reading a certain headline, seeing a particular image, hearing someone’s tone of voice—can feel like it should be no big deal, but instead, it sets off a storm inside and you feel unsettled, activated or dysregulated. You’re not just reacting to what’s happening now; you’re also feeling the disorganization of everything similar that’s still unresolved inside you. It’s like opening a drawer and having everything from the past come spilling out at once because it was never properly sorted through and stored when it should have been.

How This Affects You

When this happens, your nervous system struggles to regulate. You might feel lost, confused, or emotionally overwhelmed without knowing why. It’s not just about what you consciously took in—it’s about everything you absorbed without realizing it. And when all of it is swirling around inside you without being sorted, it creates an internal state of instability and unpredictability, mirroring the chaos you might be sensing in the world around you.

This is why attuning to what is going on inside you, processing it, digesting what you can, and releasing what you don’t need to carry forward with you are so important. Just like organizing a cluttered room, you need time to sit with what’s inside, notice what’s there, decide what’s still meaningful, and let go of what no longer serves you. Without this intentional sorting process, the buildup only continues, making it harder to stay present, clear, and connected to your own truth.

The Astrology of March

This is why March is such an important month to be mindful of your sensitivity. Astrologically, it’s a busy month. Two planets are in retrograde, which means there’s a lot of reflection, slowdowns, and unexpected shifts. There are also two powerful eclipses, which tend to bring sudden change, heightened emotions, and deep transformation. On top of that, we’re moving into a new season—spring—which carries its own transitional energy of renewal and rebirth but can also feel unstable and unpredictable as everything shifts. The world has already felt chaotic and uncertain, and this month could amplify those feelings even more. But it also holds the potential for powerful breakthroughs and new beginnings.

Let’s take a closer look at the busy astrology we’re dealing with this month.

Venus Retrograde in Aries

Venus is retrograde in Aries for most of March, bringing a period of reflection and re-evaluation around love, pleasure, relationships, and how you experience beauty and ease in your life. When Venus, the planet of love and connection, moves backward in the sky, it invites you to turn inward and question what’s working—and what isn’t. And in Aries, a sign that values independence and autonomy, this retrograde might bring up themes around how you balance your own needs with the needs of others.

Are you fully honoring your desires?

Do you feel free in your relationships?

Where have you been sacrificing too much, and where do you need to reclaim your sense of self?

For highly sensitive people, this kind of energy can stir up a lot of inner tension. If you’ve been absorbing expectations from others about what love should look like, what pleasure you should allow yourself, or how much space you should take up, this retrograde might bring those buried feelings to the surface. Venus in Aries is direct, bold, and self-focused—not in a selfish way, but in a way that asks you to reconnect with your own desires without filtering them through what others might think or expect.

It’s a time for deep reflection on how you allow yourself to receive love, enjoyment, and connection—both from yourself and from others.

Because this retrograde lasts about six weeks, it’s not about rushing to find answers. Instead, it’s a process of pulling back, sitting with your emotions, and noticing where you might have neglected your own need for beauty, pleasure, and ease. Have you been so caught up in responsibilities, in caring for others, or in managing the overwhelm of life that you’ve forgotten to actually enjoy it? This is the time to gently course-correct.

Toward the end of the month, on March 27, Venus moves backward into Pisces, where it will stay for most of April. This shift is significant because Venus is exalted in Pisces, meaning it’s in a much more supportive and nurturing place. Where Venus in Aries might have felt confrontational—forcing you to see what isn’t working—Venus in Pisces softens things, offering more ease and emotional clarity around love and connection. If March is about noticing what feels off, April is about beginning to heal and move toward what does feel good.

In your art journal, this Venus retrograde is a beautiful time to explore what love, pleasure, and connection mean to you.

Where do you feel a sense of freedom and autonomy in your relationships, and where do you feel restricted?

What kind of pleasure or ease have you been neglecting?

What would it feel like to bring more beauty into your everyday life—not for anyone else, but just for you?

Let yourself explore these questions visually—maybe with colors, shapes, or images that reflect how you want to feel in your relationships with yourself and others.

Venus retrograde asks you to slow down, look within, and clear out anything that isn’t truly aligned with your heart. And with all the other shifting energy in March, this inner work will help you feel more stable and at home in yourself as the month unfolds.

Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

On March 14, we have a potent full moon lunar eclipse in Virgo, a moment of deep release, completion, and clearing. Eclipses are powerful turning points, and because this one is so close to the South Node, it carries strong themes of depletion and letting go. Virgo is a sign that thrives on order, clarity, and efficiency, and with the South Node currently in Virgo (until mid-2026), we are in a longer cycle of simplifying, decluttering, and refining—not just our physical space, but our minds, our emotional world, and the way we process information.

For highly sensitive people, this eclipse can highlight mental and emotional overload—all the excess information, responsibilities, and expectations you’ve absorbed but haven’t had the space to sort through. As my mentor, Kelly Surtees explains, Virgo rules health and hygiene, which isn’t just about your physical well-being, but also your mental and emotional hygiene—the thoughts you allow in, the media you consume, and the beliefs you carry. This eclipse is an invitation to step back and ask:

What is cluttering my mind?

What is interfering with my peace?

Where am I holding onto too much, and how can I release it?

With Mercury—the ruler of this eclipse—about to go retrograde, there’s also an element of reviewing and revisiting old thoughts, patterns, or unresolved issues. You might find yourself going back over things from the past that were unsettling or frustrating, but this time, you’re being given a chance to see them from a new perspective. This eclipse isn’t about rushing to fix anything; it’s about creating space—mentally, emotionally, physically—so that what truly matters has room to grow.

This eclipse might leave you feeling depleted, unsettled, or questioning things you thought were solid, and that’s completely normal – but of course, sometimes not easy on your body or your nervous system as I described before. There’s a lot of emotion and energy moving under this moon. Instead of trying to push through or figure everything out, ask yourself:

What is soothing my body?

What is helping my emotional state?

What is hindering it?

Your nervous system will thank you for stepping away from anything that overwhelms you.

This is just the beginning tone of this eclipse cycle, and I’ll be sharing more about how to work with it in your art journal when we get closer to the date. But for now, know that this is a time to clear out the excess—physically, mentally, and emotionally—so you can move forward feeling lighter and more aligned.

Mercury Retrograde in Aries

On March 15th, Mercury goes retrograde in Aries, bringing a period of reflection, revision, and potential frustration around communication, organization, and how you process your thoughts. Mercury rules the mind, speech, technology, commerce, and daily logistics, so when it moves backward, things can feel scrambled. Emails don’t send, conversations get misinterpreted, plans fall apart, and your own thoughts might feel like they’re looping instead of moving forward.

And because Mercury is in Aries—a sign that’s fiery, direct, and action-oriented—there’s likely to be a little more heat behind all of it. Frustration, impatience, and the urge to just push through might be strong, but this retrograde isn’t about charging ahead—it’s about stepping back and noticing what needs to be adjusted.

Your thoughts might be jumbled, your words might not come out right, or you might feel mentally exhausted from trying to keep up. And because Aries is ruled by Mars, there’s an edge of frustration in the air—miscommunications could lead to arguments more easily, or you might find yourself expressing irritation more freely than usual. This is a time to notice where you’ve been holding things in.

Are you suppressing emotions or frustrations that need an outlet?

Mercury retrograde in Aries encourages you to express yourself honestly, but with awareness.

It’s a time of rethinking, revising, and reworking—not for forcing things forward. And because Aries is a fire sign, expect a bit of a “two steps forward, one step back” feeling all month. You might feel ready to move ahead with an idea or decision, only to run into delays, obstacles, or second-guessing. Instead of pushing through, use this time to fine-tune your plans, slow down, and make space for reflection.

Then, on March 29, Mercury moves back into Pisces for the second week of retrograde, shifting the focus from outward frustrations to more internal, emotional, and spiritual themes. Mercury is in detriment in Pisces, meaning it doesn’t function as clearly there—it’s more dreamy, intuitive, and indirect. This part of the retrograde might feel foggy, with thoughts dissolving as quickly as they arise, making it harder to stay focused or make concrete decisions. But this also creates space for deeper, more reflective thinking. Instead of trying to solve everything with logic, you’re being invited to listen to your intuition, sit with your emotions, and let things unfold naturally.

Some days might feel sharp and fiery (Mercury in Aries), while others might feel hazy and uncertain (Mercury in Pisces)—both are part of the process.

This Mercury retrograde isn’t here to derail you, but it is asking you to slow down and notice what needs to be reworked.

Where do you need more clarity?

Where are you rushing through decisions?

What frustrations have you been suppressing that need an outlet?

Mercury retrograde in Aries reminds you that your voice matters, but speaking and acting from a place of alignment—not impulse—will serve you best. And as it moves into Pisces, you’re being asked to release overthinking and trust that some answers will come in their own time.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries

On March 29, we have a partial new moon solar eclipse in Aries, marking both an ending and a beginning. This eclipse brings a completion of the last two years of eclipses in this area of your life, so there’s a strong finishing tone here—something is wrapping up, clearing the way for what’s next.

Aries is a sign of bold action, independence, and new beginnings, and because this eclipse is ruled by Mars, which is now moving direct, you may feel an intense urge to move forward quickly. But with Mercury still retrograde, the energy is better suited for correcting, revising, and finishing what was started in the past, rather than rushing into something brand new.

For highly sensitive people, this can be a tricky balance. On one hand, the Aries energy can feel urgent, fiery, and full of momentum, pushing you to take action. But if you move too fast without reflection, you may find yourself needing to go back and fix things later.

Instead of forcing something forward, this eclipse invites you to ask:

What do I need to bring to a close in this area of my life?

What unfinished business needs my attention?

What past decisions, projects, or actions are now coming up for revision?

While you may want to start fresh, this eclipse reminds you that clearing things out first is part of the new beginning.

Remember, bringing things to a close can actually help you move forward more powerfully.

What do you need to release before stepping into the next chapter?

What loose ends need tying up?

What unfinished thoughts, emotions, or creative projects need closure so you can create with clarity?

As we get closer to this eclipse, I’ll share more ways to work with this energy in your journal. But for now, trust that this is a transition point—one that asks you to pause, reflect, and clear the space for what’s truly aligned to come next.

Neptune Moves into Aries

On March 30, Neptune moves into Aries, marking a major collective shift that will unfold over the next 14 or so years. This is a big deal—Neptune moves slowly, spending over a decade in each sign, shaping the spiritual and emotional undercurrents of the world.

For the last 14 years, with Neptune in Pisces, the collective energy has been steeped in themes of spirituality, magic, intuition, soulfulness, and surrender. It’s been an era of deep emotional sensitivity, heightened intuition, and a longing for unity and connection.

But now, as Neptune moves into Aries, that energy changes. Instead of drifting and dissolving into the dreamlike, mystical waters of Pisces, Neptune is now in a sign of fire, action, independence, and initiation.

For highly sensitive people, this shift can feel like being pulled from a soft dream world into something sharper, faster, and more direct.

Aries is about taking action, being bold, stepping into leadership, and doing things for yourself. This means that the ways we connect to spirituality, dreams, and inspiration will also shift.

Instead of seeking oneness and surrender, we may find ourselves drawn to personal empowerment, self-directed spiritual paths, and the idea of taking control of our own destiny – kind of great energy for solitary witches who believe in reclaiming their personal power but still a major energy shift.  The collective mood may move away from Pisces’ themes of meditation, deep emotional processing, and introspection and toward Aries themes of movement, courage, self-reliance, and forging a path forward.

This shift can feel energizing, but also overwhelming for those of us who are deeply sensitive. Pisces’ dreamlike energy allowed space for deep emotions to flow. Aries, by contrast, pushes forward—sometimes too fast, sometimes too forcefully. If you already feel overwhelmed by disorganization, unpredictability, or too much shifting energy, Neptune’s move into Aries could stir up even more urgency, restlessness, and a desire to take action before things feel fully clear. It might feel like the world is suddenly rushing, competing, or pushing forward at a pace that doesn’t feel natural for you. You might feel the pressure to “just do it” when what you actually need is to move at your own speed, in your own way.

This is why understanding your own rhythm and nervous system is key. Instead of getting swept up in the collective energy, ground yourself in what truly matters to you.

While Aries energy is about doing things for yourself, that doesn’t mean you have to move in the same way as the world around you. You get to define what action, courage, and independence look like for you.

Maybe your version of Aries energy isn’t about battle or competition—it’s about stepping into your own creative power, setting stronger boundaries, or standing confidently in your own unique path.

This is a momentous shift, and it will take time to fully integrate. The world will feel different, faster, more direct, more focused on self-determination. But as always, you don’t have to absorb everything the collective is feeling. You can take what inspires you, release what doesn’t, and move forward in a way that honors your sensitivity, your intuition, and your own natural rhythm.

And when you do take on more than you want to…pull out your art journal and sit with the moon, or listen to the Moon Mapping recordings I created for you if you have access to them or open your own personal toolbox of emotional and spiritual tools that work best for YOU.

As You Can See

When you have a highly sensitive nervous system, you feel all of this movement more deeply. Your body picks up on the collective energy shifts, and your emotions might swing more than usual. You might feel scattered, anxious, overstimulated, or like there’s just too much happening at once. This is why understanding how your body responds to all of this is so important. When you recognize that your nervous system is simply trying to process and organize everything you’re absorbing, you can work with it instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.

This is where your art journaling practice with the moon becomes a powerful tool. This month, I want to invite you to use your daily art journaling practice to attune, organize, and release everything you’re picking up—so you feel as sorted, stable, settled, calm, and safe as possible. Think of your journal as a place to clear out the mental and emotional clutter, to gently process what’s coming up, and to release anything that doesn’t belong to you or no longer serves you.

Let it be a grounding ritual, a way to slow down and listen to yourself in a month that might otherwise feel chaotic.

Each day, as you journal with the moon, you’re giving yourself the time and space to check in:

What energy am I carrying today?

What emotions or thoughts feel unsettled?

What do I need to release so I can feel more at peace?

This practice isn’t about forcing anything—it’s about making space for your sensitivity to be acknowledged, supported, and cared for. And when you do this consistently, you’ll find yourself moving through March with more clarity, steadiness, and ease, no matter what the astrology or the world around you is doing.

Monday

The week kicks off with the waxing crescent moon moving into the sign of Taurus but having a tense relationship with the planet Pluto on Monday.

The moon is in a tense relationship with Pluto today.

The moon is the queen of the night. She wants to illuminate the darkness, bring about change, be a mirror to reflect us back to ourselves and awaken our receptive and intuitive powers. She represents your body and emotions and reminds you that life is an ever-changing cycle of birth, death, transformation and rebirth. She wants to bring you nurturing and adaptability.

Pluto wants to illuminate what is hidden in your subconscious realm to help you transform. It can bring endings, new beginnings, deep spiritual growth and rebirth. With Pluto’s energy influencing us, its helpful to face your shadows and your inner darkness – and hopefully you can do that with the nurturing compassion of the moon.

In this tense kind of relationship the moon and Pluto are having today, challenging emotions can surface. It can stir up difficult circumstances to process or unresolved issues or memories that still need to be tended to. It’s like facing dark truths that ultimately set you free.

Personally, I see this as an opportunity to address those exiled parts within our psyche. The ones we’ve hidden away because of shame, fear or the worry that we won’t be loved or accepted. Those inner parts of ourselves get activated in this kind of moon energy and yes, it can cause challenges in your life and relationships but its hard to tend to those deeply hidden inner parts without them being activated so there is a blessing to this kind of tense moon energy – especially when we art journal with the moon. The moon being in a tense relationship with Pluto supports your emotional and spiritual growth by giving you the opportunity to meet the emotional or spiritual needs of our hidden inner parts – such as your wounded inner child parts, past life memories or generational trauma your body is still carrying.

Think about the last time you faced a hard truth – about yourself or someone else.

What was that experience like for you?

In what way did the experience set you free?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents challenging emotions that need to be tended to.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the waxing crescent moon is in the sign of Taurus.

Emerging from the darkness of the new moon, the waxing crescent moon symbolizes the first visible evidence of your intentions and desires beginning to take form. It’s a time of promise and potential that whispers of growth and possibilities yet to unfold.

This phase of the moon is about taking the seeds you planted during the new moon—those quiet intentions set in sacred space—and tenderly helping them into the light. It’s a reminder that even your biggest, wildest, grandest dreams start small, and that every first step must be taken in faith because you can’t yet see exactly where you are going or where your creative dreams will lead you.

The waxing crescent moon is a good time to revisit the intentions you set during the new moon. Ask yourself:

What steps can I take, however small, to bring my dreams closer to reality?

This moon phase encourages you to take action, even if it’s just a small gesture or a subtle shift in your daily routine, to affirm your commitment to your creative dreams.

This is also a time to nurture your inner light, to be kind to yourself as you navigate the vulnerabilities that naturally come with having a creative dream and try your best to move towards it. It’s not an easy thing to do and there are bound to be challenges along the way. The waxing crescent moon’s energy encourages you to move forward with gentleness and determination.

It’s a time to weave your creative dreams into the fabric of your daily life.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your next indicated step toward your dreams.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, the waxing crescent moon moves into the sign of Gemini.

While the moon is in Gemini, you might feel more curious and open than usual, leading you toward exploration, learning, and the quest for new ideas or concepts. Communication, especially around emotions, becomes an important theme as the Gemini Moon encourages open dialogue, sharing of ideas, and meaningful conversation. Gemini moon days are also characterized by a noticeable versatility and adaptability in dealing with emotions. You are nudged to see various perspectives, to better understand your feelings and those of others.

Furthermore, the Gemini Moon encourages exploration of your inner duality, much like the twins that symbolize Gemini. This exploration allows you to become more comfortable with the many faces and dimensions of your inner self, helping you understand that your complexity is part of your unique beauty. Yes, you have many more sides to you than you realize.

Because Gemini’s influence can sometimes result in a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, in your art journal, consider reflecting on questions like:

How can I better communicate my feelings to others?

How am I embracing the duality within myself?

In what ways can I adapt to the emotional changes I’m experiencing?

And how can I use my thoughts to support my emotional well-being?

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents an emotional or spiritual change you’re going through in your life right now.

Thursday

With the first quarter moon being in the sign of Gemini, Thursday brings a dynamic and active energy.

The first quarter moon is a powerful phase that’s all about decision, action, and commitment. It represents a critical point where the energy of the lunar cycle is building momentum, asking you to push past internal blocks and barriers. It’s a moment that requires courage and clarity because this is where the intentions you set at the new moon either gain strength or fizzle out, depending on how you respond. Imagine it as a fork in the road, where you have the chance to choose—you can commit more deeply to your dreams and goals, or you can let doubts and fears slow you down.

This moon phase encourages you to dig deep, face any resistance or self-doubt, and ask yourself:

What am I willing to overcome to make my dreams a reality?

The first quarter moon pushes you to confront your own blocks, whether they’re old habits, lingering doubts, or fears of change. It’s like a call to action from the cosmos, urging you to take those next steps, however challenging they may feel, and to say “yes” to your own growth.

In your art journal, work with this energy by exploring what barriers might be standing between you and your goals. Start with a page dedicated to these blocks—use words, images, or symbols that represent them. Then, on another page, imagine yourself moving past these obstacles. What does it look like to say yes to yourself and your dreams? Create a visual or written declaration of your commitment, a pledge to yourself that you’re ready to push forward. Use colors, shapes, or images that feel bold and decisive, mirroring the energy of this first quarter moon. Let this be a reminder that you have the power to choose your path, and that each choice brings you closer to the life you envision.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents a pledge you’re ready to make to yourself.

Friday

On Friday, the first quarter moon moves into the sign of Cancer.

The Moon in Cancer is a nurturing time that aligns well with the concept of the inner parent. The inner parent is an archetype representing the nurturing, caring qualities within you, often mirroring the emotional care you wish you had received when you were younger. Cancer, a sign deeply connected with emotions, home, and maternal energy in astrology, provides the ideal backdrop for connecting with and cultivating your own inner parent.

For highly sensitive people, especially those who have experienced trauma or emotional neglect, engaging with the inner parent can be challenging and you might have a lot of inner parts that resist it but it can also be incredibly healing. When you’ve grown up in environments where emotional support and nurturing were lacking, visualizing and interacting with your inner parent, can begin to provide you with the compassion, understanding, and unconditional support you missed.

This practice involves imagining what an ideal parent figure would look and feel like—one who offers love, encouragement, and protection. On days when the Moon is in Cancer, it supports this kind of deep emotional and nurturing work, making it easier to access and strengthen these qualities within yourself. This process not only helps heal old wounds but also empowers you to respond to your current emotional needs with greater kindness and care, effectively re-parenting your inner child to foster healing and emotional resilience.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your ideal inner parent.

Saturday

On Saturday, the first quarter moon is in the sign of Cancer and having a happy relationship with Saturn.

The moon being in a happy relationship with Saturn is a little like being with an emotionally wise person when you’re struggling.

An emotionally wise person can create a loving container by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for you to express your feelings. They listen actively and empathetically, without interrupting or trying to fix your problems. This allows you to feel heard and understood. They offer gentle encouragement and validation, acknowledging your emotions and reassuring you that it’s okay to feel what you’re feeling.

Being with someone who has emotional wisdom supports you in processing and expressing your feelings because they model healthy emotional behavior. Their calm and grounded presence can help you feel more secure and less overwhelmed by your emotions. They might ask thoughtful questions that guide you to explore your feelings more deeply and gain insight into your emotional experiences. This supportive interaction helps you build emotional resilience and learn to navigate your feelings with greater clarity and confidence.

In their presence, you learn that it’s safe to be vulnerable and that your emotions are valid. This experience can foster a stronger sense of self and improve your ability to form healthy, supportive relationships.

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage images that represents a loving container for your difficult emotions.

Sunday

On Sunday, the first quarter moon moves into the sign of Leo.

Leo, a fixed fire sign, is ruled by the sun. When the moon enters Leo, it highlights a bit more of the sun’s radiant energy. Imagine the moon, who represents emotions, soaking in the sun’s light and reflecting back to us feelings of loyalty, warmth, optimism, playfulness and power. This is the core of Leo energy. It invites you to shine your light unapologetically, to soak in the warmth of your inner worth, and to happily and confidently project your unique essence into the world.

Let’s channel this Leo moon energy into your art journal. Begin by thinking of your inner light – that undying spark within you that remains radiant regardless of life’s ups and downs. This is your core, forever glowing, forever worthy of love, respect, and all things good.

Start by drawing or painting a representation of this light. It could be a simple flame, a radiant sun, a luminous gem, or anything that symbolizes your inner brilliance. As you create this representation, visualize your light growing brighter and more powerful, pulling in positivity, opportunities, and goodness.

As Leo’s energy encourages expressiveness and childlike playfulness, let your journaling be fun and judgment free. Use bold colors and vivid imagery. You might even want to incorporate glitter or gold foil to represent the shimmering confidence of Leo. Or maybe include affirmations that resonate with Leo’s warmth and power, such as:

“I am radiant and worthy.”

“My light attracts goodness.”

“I shine brightly, unapologetically.”

In your art journal, draw, paint or collage an image that represents your inner light.

with love,
